hey guys, i am having trouble with my safety/decocker on my usp fullsize 45. it is about 2 months old. since i purchased the handgun, i have had some difficulty with stiffness when trying to engage the safety. i lubed it real good and let it sit for a couple of days but it was still hard to flip the safety in the up position. any thoughts as to why this might be happening? thank you for your time.

To add to the description of the problem. Sometimes it will feel just the way it should and then all of a sudden it is tough to engage and disengage the safety. The safety still operates the way it should but I would estimate it is about 3 times harder to engage / disengage than it should be. KBR also said that he had a USP40c do the same thing. He sent it to HK, they replaced a part, and it was OK. I forget what part was replaced, I'm sure KBR can elaborate. It makes me wonder if 1) it will require the changing of the same part and 2) if so is it something KBR is doing wrong causing a premature failure of the part? Regardless we will send it back to HK, and I am sure it will be fine. But I am curious as to what the problem might be.

It is probably the detent plate. I had a gentleman contact me a while back and we did everything we could do over the net. He then compared the problem plate with another and found it slightly out of shape and reshaped it. Problem fixed. So, you can send it to HK or order the detent plate and see if that does it. Likely it will and changing out a detent plate is a two minute job.
