Yes, this is somewhat odd that my first post ever on this forum (after lurking here for a while) actually pertains to me selling my USP.

Quick backstory: while I really like my 9mm, especially with that helpful little red dot floating on top of it, the obsessive-compulsive disorder part of me is now fixated on acquiring a Springfield TRP. And no, I'm not cash-strapped to the point where I have to sell one gun in order to buy another.

But I am married. With a wife who has veto power over any purchase over $1K.

So, here is my dilemma. I just bought and installed the doctersight less than a month ago and now I need to sell the gun or the Springer remains out of reach. I tried looking at comparable guns on the WTS section of the forum and on gunbroker, but I find I have a hard time valuing the gun with the additional optic. I suppose I could just remove it and transfer to the 1911, but I figure it'll give me an edge up and allow me to stand out from the rest of the USP 9 sellers.

Long story short, what do you think a reasonable price is for the USP package? Here are the specs:

- USP 9mm, around 200 rounds
- 7 moa Doctersight (real one, not any of those knock-offs), Bain & Davis here in LA helped me sight it in beautifully, bought it for $349
- GG&G light mount (I'm keeping the Streamlight for transfer to the TRP)

While I dont want to lowball the sale price, the underlying goal is to a) sell at a fair price and b) prove to my wife that the gun has been sold :74:

Folks, appreciate any feedback.

Simple, the USP 9mm is about a $650 gun brand new. The sight is $349 brand new. That leaves you at $999. So your wife has no veto power, here. Case closed. :)

Ha, nice Maverick. That is a very cool Hummer, never seen that before.

hehe, I just wish it was mine. Someday... someday...

Anyhow, if it's just a stock USP with 2 mags and the aftermarket sight... I'd estimate a price of $800-$850.

Appreciate the feedback Maverick, I'll put it up for $795 and gauge interest.

I shot a couple pics this morning for reference. Pls note, I do have two 10-round magazines as well (they're loaded in my safe). I just really like the case, made by a company called 'Pelican' oddly enough. A good friend of mine gave it to me and I didn't realize how popular they are. The foam piece has this clever customization option where you simply pluck out individual pieces which have already been pre-cut for easy removal. And yes, I will be using it for my next gun so it's not part of the deal.

Any more feedback, please let me know. In the meantime, I need to read up on how to sell to private parties via the dealer. Part of my homework for the weekend.

Cheers

That looks like a very cool pistol. I'm thinking of a Doctor for my 45 Expert.

BTW - HKpro member in 626 area here!

Appreciate the comment Loupav - the USP started as purely a home defense weapon. I went to the range a couple times but then it just stayed in my safe. I just added the Doctersight after having tried someone else's last month. Please note these optics come in two separate MOA sizes. The smaller one (2 or 3) is really small and more suitable for long range rifle shooting. I think 7 moa is just right, plus the system is light sensitive and will adjust the brightness of the dot automatically. Neat tool indeed.

My favorite aspect of it is that you can keep both eyes open when using the red dot. It really helps with your overall peripheral vision. I'm seriously thinking about getting one for the 1911 downstream, but I want to be comfortable with using the iron sights first.

Also, not sure if you had a chance to visit Bain and Davis seeing that you're from the 626, but after having checked out some of the other gunstores/smiths here in LA, I do find them to be the most competent and professional. I originally had Entreprise Arms (and yes, that how they spell it, maybe the owner is French) install the sights and they were off-center and poorly sighted. I lost confidence with them and on a recommendation visited B&D. They fixed the dovetailed mount alignment and sighted the optic very well for what seems to be about 10-15 yards. Shot 25 rounds and had nice groupings consistently.

Cheers

So, just finished posting the USP and the Doctersight on gunbroker.com under this link (ref 96701670):

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=96702078

Sorry, I wanted to post the gun under the HKPro WTS folder, but I didnt realize you need to have a minimum 30 posts. I suppose I should've commented more in the past, but I also didn't think it proper to start spewing random thoughts on this forum just to hit the minimum.)

Plus I just went out and bought the Springfield TRP so I better start selling the gun soon before I hear it from the wifey...

Well, wish me luck :D
