View Full Version : Disappointed with Blade-Tech IWB - P7

Maybe I'm spoiled by my IWB's from Greg Peters for my USP and my P2000sk, but after spending $75 on a Blade-Tech for my P7 I am kinda disappointed. It just seems cheap, has no cant and is uncomfortable.

Does anyone have any IWB suggestions for a P7(PSP)?

Yes, i got a holster from Crossbreedsholsters and its wonderful. It has leather on the backing that touches your skin, but kydex on the outside to it has a very easy draw/reholster.

Blade-tech isn't a well known name in the IWB market, they mostly concentrate on the OWB market, and quite IMO make the best holsters at the moment (no one else offers DOH holsters like B-T does.

For kydex IWB, Comp-tac and Tucker Gun Leather are the kings. The CTAC, and MTAC from Comp-tac are excellent. Tucker's Answer is just as good if not better, but has a long lead time compared to Comp-tac, but he offers a wider selection or styles, and fits for different guns.

Which Blade-Tech IWB did you get?
The Blade-Tech Ultimate Concealment Holster?
or
The In the Waistband IWB (IDPA APPROVED)?

I know the Ultimate Concealment Holster has an adjustable cant as my P2000SK is one.

I just wish Comp-Tac would make a MTAC for the P7, that would be awesome.

Or Lou Alessi or Matt Del Fatti.
I don't do plastic holsters.

I use the Bladetech UCH holster with my P7 every day, 16 hours a day, for the last year. The cant is adjustable. There is a third hole you just swap the screw into.

It doesn't look all that pretty and it does seem cheaper made than my CTAC for my USP but it works fine and is very comfortable. Best of all, it was available immediately and I had it in my mailbox two days after ordering it. Unfortunately, there are no CompTac holsters for the P7 and I can't wait 6 months (or even 2 months) on a leather one.

If you guys can find a better holster that I can order and have shipped today I'd like to see it.

I've no issues with Kydex IWB: no moisture, quick draw and reholstering. Loops are adjustable to offer cant if you want it.

If you'd like to sell it (assuming it's RH) I'll take it.

Thanks! I didn't realize that other hole would make much of a difference just by moving that screw. Looking closer at it, I guess all I need to make it more adjustable is to just go at it with a drill.

That's why I bought this one. I wouldn't mind waiting 3-4 weeks, but a 6 month wait to me seems absurd. I'm going to work on this one and try and get used to it.

Try Jerry at Haugen Handgun Leather.

I might just order one of those. That's damn nice.

I bought that Bladetec IWB kydex job for my PSP. I sucked so bad, I threw it in the trash.

I have a leather IWB rig due in from KD Holsters. Hopefully that will be serviceable.

I have a snake skin pocket defender plus from them for my Kel-tec P3AT, and I'm very happy with it. They even put my initials on it. Nice folks.

Before you give me crap for my Keltec, I'm working on a P7... I just hate heel mag releases, so I'm going to have to wait another few months to get a M8 instead...

Bolted,

Moving the hole should make a difference. Let us know how you make out with that.

Maybe it's me and it likely is, but the Ultimate Concealment Holster is one of the most uncomfortable IWB holsters I have ever worn.

No, no, no! I'm a Kel-Tec p3at fan. In fact, my KD Holster order includes a Pocket Defender for my P3at and a Cochise Defender for my P7 PSP. It's been about 10-11 weeks and they said it's due in any day now. So I am pumped!!

No you don't need a drill. Just pull one of the screws out, position it so the top hole is over the bottom hole, and put the screw back in. Five seconds. Done. I would show you but I don't like to wear it with a cant. I find straight drop is much better for my rig.

One issue I corrected is it tends to slide around on the belt. So I added velcro to my belt and to the inside of the belt loop. No more sliding around.

I know I sound like I sell these things, but I simply can't imagine anything being more comfortable. With a proper belt and positioning on the waist I don't feel anything at all. If you are having problems with a holster as simple as this one I wouldn't blame it on the holster. It's more likely your belt, positioning, or gut.

I would also worry because the P7 finish is not all that strong, and Kydex has been known to break down finishes faster than leather.

Comp-Tac's CTAC works beautifully with the M8.

Just don't make a habit of leaving your pistol overnight in leather holsters.

Here's where I'm at. I have an e-mail in with Jerry at Haugen Handgun Leather, I want to order one of those. What's one more holster for the collection?

I did move that screw and I'm going to try it there. I was just saying I could always drill another hole or two for more adjustment. I'm also going to remove about 1/4" where I circled here so that the plastic doesn't jab my side.

Guys, I really appreciate your help. Oh yeah, I have one of these too-
(be nice, I wanted something to carry for when a real gun wouldn't do_

I have never gone with the e-mail route with him but, have found his customer service to be impecable. Try giving him a call. Just a genuine person running a business in the manor that most of us dream about. I am sure he will answer all of your questions like you have known him for years.

I have no vested intrest, nor am I a sales rep, just a very satified, repeat customer.

I understand, and appreciate you passing on the info. I started a thread bragging about my P2000sk holster from Greg Peters with nothing in it for me. If one other person likes something as much as I do I am satisfied.

Called him today--

"Due to heavy backlog, we will not accept any new orders until April 15th...."

Could be worse I guess.

That is still better than most of the others with a six month to a year backlog!
