I hope this is in the correct place on the forum. Please move if not.
I am thinking about getting some new sights for my HK45s and my USPs.
So here's the question. What are the pros/cons of having a wider rear notch?
I guess .125 is standard, but you can go up to .140 and .156 etc.
It seems to me that target acquisition would be quicker with a wider notch, but not as accurate? Yes? No?
I've done some searching on the web but would like to see what people have to say about personal preferences and what has worked for them and why.
Thanks!! :)

I think you're correct in your assessment. What sights are you planning to get for your HK45? Heinie?

Yup. Heinie Straight Eight night sights. I REALLY like the Straight Eights.

The most indepth discussion on sight width by some of the top shooters in the US. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=1&t=118
Sights are mainly a personal preference. For fast shooting, I prefer running a .110" front with a .150" notch. It's quite a gap, you can still be accurate, just takes a few hundredths longer to get lined up on a long shot. If I need to balance speed and accuracy, .110-.125 front and .125 rear.

Thanks for the reply Scooter. That link was exhaustive. I appreciate the help.

I had them on a Glock :o many years ago and I liked them. I'm thinking about sending in my slide and having them install the sights since I don't have a sight tool and there are no longer any good gunsmiths in this area that I'm aware of.
Do you know if the Straight Eight night sights are available with a white dot surrounding the front lamp?
