Hi, i am from Europe and want to buy a gun barrel for my usp from a webshop that dont ship internationally. I happen to know a guy in USA that can take the order for me and ship it by mail. To take the part into my country is not a problem, but i understand there are some regulations i need to consider before shipping it from the states. Now i am very serious about keeping this legal and as troublefree for my friend as possible ( he doesent know jack about guns but wanna help :)). Is there anything i can do from europe to ready the item for shipping or must my friend do the paperwork?

hope this is possible because it costs triple where i am from:720:

It'll cost you a minimum of 10x the cost of the barrel to legally ship it out. He will need to get export permits in order to do that and it's a lot of work and a lot of money.

It still won't be cheap even if he can find an export broker to cut out much of the paper work.

it would probably be cheaper (by alot) to get a USP barrel from Europe somehwre, rather than from the states.

Questar (in Canada) does import/export permits, and charges 300 dollars per "gun", and 250 dollars for "accessories" (plus 50 dollars for each different line item)

and that doesn't include any shipping etc...

Plus, a lot of online companies will NOT ship to a different address than your CC is registered to (IE, shipping and billing address must be the same)

thanks guys. I suppose I \ he would be in a lot of trouble if he just shipped it as a regular metal tube too :P

Guess i must seek my fortune elsewhere. Does anyone know any european sites that deal in ported barrels? I checked out questar, loked great, but they dont have hk parts >_<

yes, he (the exporter) would. It's Called ITAR (which stands for International Traffic in Arms Regulations).

Specifically, within U.S. law it is covered under 22nd US Code 2778 the Arms Export Control Act. Anything that is military, or what is considered "dual use", in other words items which have both military and civilian use, are regulated for export.

Personally, I have seen everything from large bulk shipments of ammunition and turbine engines for fighter jets, to a $20 scope purchased at Walmart being seized.

While your barrel is for honest, personal use, the laws are put in place in an attempt to reduce the black market trading of firearms and other militant use equipment.

And belive me (I'm from Europe as well), this is your best and safest option. However if you are in EU, you can try to find it cheaper in another country, using stadard "Prior Consent" form from your Police.

BTW I've imported gun parts from USA. I used Brownells (http://www.brownells.com). They managed all proces of getting Export Licence from State Department and did not charged any additional cost of that. However those was not parts as "serious" as barrel (barrel is considered "vital gun part" in Poland and requires licence like complete firearm). Anway for importing gun parts from US to Europe I strongly endorse Brownells. I'm very happy with customer service and export department.

Thought I add a comment on the research I've done for a similar issue - exporting to Europe. Anything which is on US Munitions list is considered to be restricted. There is a special section on Components and Parts, which includes anything enabling a weapon to perform it's function or to enhance the weapon's capabilties. Speicifcally, a trigger spring would be a restricted part, so would a retaining ping, a screw if it is a part without which a weapon will not operate properly. You got the picture.

Thanks for the info. I was just in contact with HK in UK and Germany. the reseptionist in germany didnt know what a ported barrel was though :) i tried exlaining with match lauf but that didnt go in either, but they were very nice and put me in contact with my local importer. So i suppose this will work out at some cost, but hopefully it will be worth it
