View Full Version : Are P30 and HK45 selling well?

Not sure if they're hot sellers because I mostly hear about S&W M&P these days, and despite the early enthusiasm for P30 and HK45, things seem to have faded a bit. Could it be the retail price or the marketing effort?

P30's have been out longer and you can find them. I think the 45 sells better, good luck trying to get one of those. Now if we could only get mags and holsters for the 45.

most of the dealers that I have checked with about the HK45 were having a hard time keeping them in stock. I have only seen one sitting in display case, and it had arrived earlier that day.
The P30 i have seen at more dealers, but I think that is due to the high price of it relative to other 9mm.
I think theres more hype around the S&W because, like Glock, thy are cheaper and therefore more likely to be adopted by PDs.

My P30 is a great gun and I'm more than happy with it. It is worth every minute of the wait and you will fall in love with it once you shoot it. IMHO the P30 feels better than the M&P's ergonomically, the trigger is better, and the fit and finish are better. It is worth the wait!

I don't know what all the hype is about the M&P. There seems to be some alleged 'issues' with them. Cheap initial cost might make one bust out their wallet. But what about down the road.........(?)

Between the 2 shops that I routinely visit there is a plethora of M&P's on hand and I've seen one P30 (for $999) and one HK45.
Now, the M&P is cheaper and maybe by default of this and the fact they are good pistols means they sell more.. means they stock more? Who knows.
I just know that it is not easy to find a P30 or HK45 in my area.

Always out of stock here locally. They get a few in, they sell the same day normally.

My local dealer has 2 in stock but at $1029.99 I think they will be there for quite a while. Sure would be nice to have a reasonable local shop that carried HK products.

CDNN has plenty.
I conducted a search on CDNN for "P30" and only found mags... Could someone please point me in a direction?
I found them elsewhere for $740 plus $15 shipping NIB. Is that about the best price out there?
Thanks in advance for any help!!

You need to download their PDF catalog off of their site. Your best bet would be to call them and ask them for their price. They do not list their guns on their website. You usually have to call for pricing, unless you have a physical copy of their catalog.

Firearms are not listed on the website. You need to give them a call. They have the P30 instock for $704 + $13 S&H which is by far the best deal available. Call and ask for Marshall as he is the BEST guy to deal with.

If anyone else is interested CDNN also has the HK45 and HK45c instock both for $820 + $13 S&H.

no, CDNN doesn't have any in stock, and hasn't had any since I returned mine to them.
they said they were getting a shipment in, and when it came, there wasn't any P30s... just HK45c or HK45, forgot which.
I said "screw it" and decided that the P7 would be a better carry gun anyway, and I'll get a P30 later.

Really? The M&P feels pretty solid to me, and I don't find the trigger to be flexible like a piece of rubber. You do know the trigger is hinged, right?
But the triggers on all of the polymer pistols, including H&K's, are nothing to write home about. With a trigger job by Burwell or Bowie, the M&P trigger becomes quite decent.

CDNN runs out quite often.
I'm seeing lots of HK 45 full size and compacts and a fair number of P30's in Phoenix. Lot's of shop's are still price gouging on them and they are expensive to begin with compared to some other pistols. A lot of longtime gun owners also still think of HK as having extremely poor customer service even though current HK users say it is fine. Poor service is an easy reputation to get but it can take years to shake it. I just bought a P30 a few days ago because it seems like they are finally putting decent triggers on them. Price was $799 at a shop I buy a lot of pistols from. I'm going to put a couple hundred rounds through it tomorrow for the first time and am really looking forward to it. Great feeling pistol that reeks of quality and i expect it to shoot as well as it feels.

The M&P's are very nice pistols for the price. The bugs are long gone as the pistol has been out for a few years now. Smith has the best customer service in the business.

+1
I'm waiting for the M&P9L's to be released and then it's off to Burwell for a trigger job, media blasting, and a F/O front sight. Not a bad deal for less than $150 + shipping.
I really want a P30L, but if HK wont bring it over I'll have something similar.
On the OT, I'm sure they're selling just fine, I hear about em all the time on various gun boards. Never really see them at local shops, but that's not really suprising when it comes to HK.
I am planning on getting an HK45C along with the aforementioned P30L (maybe) but I cant bring myself to pay $850 for a polymer pistol. Maybe when there's more of them on the used market that aren't being sold at new prices I'll buy one.

I still haven't fondled either HK45s or a P30. Everytime I go to a gun show I see one empty gap in the middle of all the HK guns, and I know I missed it again.
I won't be purchasing one for at least 3 years, but I would like to see what all the fuss is about.

I have an HK45 and love it. I also have an HK45C in stock that's for sale. It is an awesome pistol, just like the HK45 is. It's more concealable though, and with the flat mag bases I have in stock for it, it's even easier.

How did you get burned? Did they cease production of the gun right after you bought it and no holsters were ever made for it?

I spoke with someone (guy) at CDNN today. I was told that they are all out and do not know when they'll be getting more. I put my name on their call list for when some arrive.
Does anyone know how often HK sends out pistols (P30 in particular) to their direct (I'm assuming CDNN is dirent due to their pricing) dealers?
Thanks!

None of my four M&P's has a bad trigger. All are excellent. I like my new HK's so much that I'm selling the M&P's and my Glocks.
I'm having no trouble finding mags for the HK 45 or P30. Yes a lot of places are out of stock but it takes all of five minutes checking sound on the usual Internet sources to find some. Plenty of gun shops in Phoenix have the 45 and p30 in stock. Comp-Tac has holsters which is all I care about.

and the M&P is bad. The Glock trigger is ok, and I do like the XD trigger which is close to a Glock but smoother by default. I just hate the M&P trigger, it feels wrong to me. That's all.

I have, and I don't agree with you. Yes, the S/A trigger on the HK is better than the trigger on the M&P but I don't think the M&P trigger is terrible. And I haven't even gotten around to sending it in for a trigger job yet.
Anyway, it's all relative. I shoot my 1911 for a month (or even a day) and then go shoot my HK45 and the trigger feels terrible. Even though it's not really "terrible". Just in comparison.

I didn't realize you were such an expert. If you don't like the M&P trigger then apparently it is wrong for everyone else too. Somehow I find it comfortable, easy to fire, and very accurate. I'm sure that wouldn't be the case if I had known beforehand that you didn't like it.

I picked up an HK 45 two days after my P30. I don't find either trigger to be noticeably better but my P30 trigger is much better than the P30's I have been seeing for some time. HK must have done something about them as they said they would.

It is better, noticeably so. I shoot my HK45 so much better than my P30 which I found strange. I mean a .45 is harsher on the recoil than a 9mm obviously, so I figured I'd do better with the P30. Trigger makes the difference I guess.

Where are they selling well at? HK .45 was my first hk, but sadly it didn't agree with my hands. trigger was alright. would have had the lem kit installed but since the ergo grip was still too uncomfortable for my hands i just decided to put it up for sell. And as for the m&p, their nice, but same prob for me as the hk45. so far the only guns that have been comfortable for me is an old 1911, usp, and glock. haven't sold my hk45 yet. kinda hard around here since it costs a good bit.

That CDNN price is for dealers. So you have to add your dealer's transfer fee to that. Alot of dealers don't care for CDNN, and are either charging really high transfer fees, or they just won't transfer a gun from them at all. I really feel for the guys who are in the business to make a living. This is pretty much a hobby for me, so it's not a big deal, but the folks trying to make a living doing this have a pretty good reason not to like CDNN. On the other hand, you can't blame the public for looking for a good deal.

I'm just getting started with all the handgun stuff, myself. I just bought my first one a couple of weeks ago which happened to be a P30.
From what I've seen, I'd say the P30s sell pretty well considering how long it took for me to get mine. I had a friend going to every gun show he could around here, and he said he never saw one. My dad's friend who is a dealer spent close to two months trying to find one for me, and he finally did a couple weeks ago. Paid $785 after tax and everything. I thought that was a pretty fair price after seeing what other people were charging. And so far I love this gun.... makes me already want another HK!
The M&P stuff looks pretty good, although I've never handled any of it so I can't really give an opinion. After doing a lot of reading/researching on the internet, I decided to buy an HK over everything else. I definitely don't regret it either.

I handled an HK45 in a local shop and fell in love immediately. I have large hands so the grip suited me just fine. I'll be happy when I can come up with the $1000 to buy one. I just wish there was a range around that rents them so I could test one out.

I guess I am lucky. My local dealer had the HD45c for $869 out the door.

I just picked up a P30 today for $679 nib. :D The trigger is every bit as good as the match trigger in my USP Tactical (and that has a good trigger). Actually the P30's DA pull is lighter.
The SA pull is crisp and light without even a hint of creep. You must be comparing the HK45's trigger to the old P30 trigger not the new one.
