We have it nailed down! We will be shooting in a rock/ sand quarry Sat. June 7th. It is about 1/8 mile from the Ohio river on highway 36. It is about 10 minutes from Madison, Indiana- wich will be the best route for about anyone from Indiana to come through and cross the river there. I know there was a person wanting to come from Columbus, OH. The best route from there will be to come down to Cincy, then to I-71 south to Louisville, then get off at the Carrollton, KY exit #44.
Shooters will need to bring a table, tarp, or the like to keep their guns off of the ground as there will be no grass anywhere. Sand hurts!! Suggested vehicles are 4wd as we will be in soft sand/gravel. If you come in a car, please let us know so we can pick you up rather than trying to make it down into the pit.
No boats, fiberglass, or glass/windows this time! The quarry is still being used... bowling pins, propane/ metal tanks, water heaters, spools, ovens OK!
Tracers and explosives to your heart's content!! Nothing to worry about burning. PyroMike, This means YOU!!:740:
For those of you who have not been to any of our other shoots, this is intended to keep the cobwebs out of your class 3 weapons and dump a LOT of ammo!! Anything is welcome though. We just don't have the room for a lot of people shooting 22's.
Feel free to email me with questions at froman0@peoplepc.com or post away here.

I happen to know a guy, who knows a guy...

But the guy who needs it, is about $18k short of havin' the means to meet the ends!

If only someone made a M60 clamshell stock for a SKS or 10.22?

Jimmy, is that your deuce? If so, DETAILS!!!

I looked at one in Horse Cave a couple years ago. I already have a '67 M151 (jeep) and thought I needed something bigger to go with the military vehicle collection. Unfortunately, I let it pass.

Its a 5 ton... M-52? Its a beast!

hkx3
04-21-2008, 02:40 PM
Its a 1992, Placed In Service 1993. 5 or 5-1/4 ton. 6x6, Kaiser Multifuel Turbo, engine actually built by Continental. Two Speed Transfer case, 5 spd Trans with Reverse. Air-shift front Axle, Everything works that Ive found, Heat/Lights/Horn, etc. Only thing Im struggling with is the wipers, cant figure that one out.

Anywho, Its big and/or large, or both. lol

Bryan 45

5 ton? I forgot you were part sasquatch. I guess that's why it only looks like a 2 1/2 in the picture. Put Justin in front of it and it would look like a 10 ton!

Very cool. Are the wipers vacuum? My jeep wipers are, they work as long as you aren't accelerating.

Allright Jimmy!! Enough with the thread hijacking! We all know yours is WAY bigger than ours:640: What you guys wanna do for food? I can bring a grill, my new wife wants to make some homemade crap for you posers to eat. Burgers OK?
If you all want, there will be plenty of places to camp out at my house. I have lots of flat land next to the house to pitch a tent. It's about 20 min from the shoot location. Carroll County is wet till 2AM, so a visit to the local honkey tonk is always an option after the guns cool off.
Feel free to invite your friends and anyone from the north end of the state, Indiana, and, I guess Buckeyes!

Oh by the way REXT, a patient from Nicholasville was in Lexington to see me today, I was in my office and overheard her talking to Becky about some wild exotic sports car that she sees with a "666 DEATH" license plate- I about fell out!! I immediately ran out laughing and told her the scoop, that you are only a part-time Satanic worshiper! Then I told her the real story!

Looks like i'm going to miss this one. That'll be week 39 for my wife, and i'd perfer not to be that far away from home considering how quick her labor's are. I delivered my last son in my friends driveway. :)

Btw, I forgot who, but at the last event someone gave my a small container of the "black stuff" in tannerite. They were mixing it up in a plastic bag lined cardboard box. I was driving a green 3/4 ton Suburban, and shooting a couple hand guns and a stainless heavy barreled varmit gun. If you remember me please send me a private message.

I've tried to find a reason to go shooting, but being cold and wet doesn't make it very enjoyable.

I'm ready to blow stuff up right now though! If anyone close to Taylorsville wants to get together tomorrow or next weekend for a small casual shoot gimmie a shout. I have sorta joined the ranks of pyro tech. The gentlemen that gave me some of aluminum powder in tannerite said to mix it in with some fertilizer for the boom effect. It works, but lacks the ummph that i've seen. Seems like it's not getting the full burn as remaining fertilizer is left behind and can be heard falling to the ground. Got my neibors attention none the less.

Well, I sure hope this date works out better for everyone else! I was thinking of having it Mem Day weekend, but that would've been when a lot of families stay together, reunions and such. Plus, Justin was to be gone on a hunting trip. Just didn't seem right since he hosts these shoots so well and often. There will be some KSP officers there stopping by. None of them have any MG's though. I'll see if Barry Brown can come dowh too. He owns the company Lan-Cay here in Carrollton- they make the M9 and EOD Bayonets there. He's built some pretty cool stuff for the Gov't!
So far I have a steel bathtub, 4 bowling balls maybe more, getting pins, gobs of metal 1 gallon pails- for you PMike!, Titanium 1/2" plates, 1/2" &3/4" Stainless plates. What else do we need?? :)

Just got to the hotel in Canada. 900 miles and almost 18 hours later! lol Customs thought my gun wasn't long enough, said it had to be 55" long... WTF??? He checked the law and it was 36" instead. I was good to go.

Craig!

Hows abouts a definate 10-20 on the location for the shoot?

Id like to check it out timewise.

Also,

What about your plans for gather-up time? 9Am? 7? 5?

Once and for all, targets to avoid bringing:
Im assuming,
Glass
Fiberglass

Microwaves OK? Tv's? I just dont want to haul a load of junk from Coburg (pretty much everything here qualifies) to Worthville and have to pack it back. Im an equal opportunity junk-donor.

Is OSB/Ply/Wood/etc Ok, or am I clear that anything blown up must also be 'policed up' after the shoot? (Gosh dang Justin and Keith we owe you big for being lax on this...)

Whats the up-t0-date story on the water inside the shooting area? I still think floating tannerite would be cool as the other side of the pillow.

Something brought up to me, and I will pass along, whats the range layout like to avoid a bunch of riccohets?

Can anyone tell Im wishing this was this weekend?

:O

I am ready to shoot, need alittle more ammo, but don't we all! Should have around 100 to 150 pounds of home made vitamin T!! Just need a few more containers! Like the sound of the floating target, that could be interesting.

I'll have the directions shortly. We can start at 10:00AM It is about a 2 hour drive for some of you. We have a lot of daylight this time of year, so that should get us there and setup to shoot well before noon. If that's a prob, let me know.. we can start earlier. Do we want to have a night shoot?? That is not an issue either. We can do it as late as we want.
No glass or Fiberglass. TV's and Microwaves have glass, Jimmy! :43: Wood and such is fine. Metal containers, tanks, etc are fine. I'll get more details in a few days as far as cars, water, etc.
Ricochets are not a big issue since it is a rock an sand quarry. Nothing solid we will be shooting into.
I will do my best to take pics of the range and post them here in a day or 2.
I have my 21 all painted up and ready to run!! Rex, I have my own 4 pos. housing so I can use my own sear pack on it now.
I was thinking of setting up some tables for a "swap meet" of sorts. Possibly extra parts, odd ammo lots, guns, collectibles, etc... That is for everyone to participate in. A community yard sale of sorts for the firearms community, if you will!
- Craig

I had no idea Tv's had glass.. Neat to learn something though.

Here is the address:
6497 Hwy. 36
Milton, KY 40045
We can shoot anything that is laying around as well as growing!! There are gobs of trees that are from 1-6" diameter growing. How many can we blow in two, MIKE??? Explosives are welcome!! Tracers are welcome!! We will have about 75-100 yds for our machine guns and such, then 2-300 yards for the big guns and accurate shooting, pistols, etc. Bring your .308, .338, and of course your .50!!! I'd like to have an estimate on people coming, so we can plan on food and such. I'm looking on getting a few flat bed wagons for a swap meet and food area. There will be no running water or crappers, so bring your toilet paper and baby wipes!! Plenty of places to sneak off to. Everyone- NO alcohol till we are done shooting for the evening!!
Bring chairs, a tarp, table, sun shade, etc. There will be no charge for anyone. Please keep in mind that this is mainly for Class 3 toys/HK weapons, and destruction!! Out of state shooters welcome and encouraged. Indiana shooters, we will be 5-7min from Madison, IN. Here are some pics of the range. The grassy hill is for the single shooting and accuracy shooting, the other pic with the water and compost bags is for the Chaos!!

As a suggestion, Craig, you should go out there with some hi-vis spray paint, and designate the firing line(s) so folks dont form a half moon and end up not being able to shoot both directions like you were saying.

Just an idea?

Maybe make it so we set up behind the line, and fire over it, meaning barrels must be on/past the line to be safe.

Seems like every one of Justin's shoots weve had a few guys stand behind everyone and pop rounds off, and it killz your ears, not to mention your nerves...

Heck one idiot was even back there firing 12 guage rounds into the ground! :(

Said something about 'shoe check' or 'feetsweep' or something, I figured it was just something stemming from the terrorists using shoes as bombs?

Dont mean to be stepping on your toes here dood.

Alright, I just maprequested the location, Im 2 hours 56 minutes away or 150.97 miles. At $4.15/gal, and the ol' girl gettin ~10 Mpg, thats, um, well, 30x4.15= $124.50 round trip. Yeah! Im glad fuel hasnt gotten expensive yet.

Ask Keith about my truck and drinkin some fuel... :( From Coburg, KY to Albion Indiana, and home, $380.00.

Roll call??? I am expecting about 10 or so people from up here. I am going to see about getting some tobacco trailers for our guns and stuff. I just want to know about how much food to gather. We will have a grill and probably have burgers, chips, the usual... If it gets too crappy, we can lay tarps over our stuff and there are a couple of huge shops right there that we can use as shelter. It's looking like a 20% chance of rain early in the day and 88 for a high. Should be a nice but muggy day on the Ohio river!! Bring your popups or E-Z ups, tarps, and chairs. Please remember- there will be no soft, clean grass to lay anything on, so your best bet to keep your gear clean is on a tarp or your vehicle.
Who's bringing targets?? I've got 30 or so bowling pins, metal buckets(2gal), metal bath tub, 4 bowling balls, coolant tanks, steel plates, titanium plates. Pyro Mike, you're back, so speak up!! No excuses this time like tearing your knee up running or whatever!!:p Who's bringing explosives?? what kind?? It's all welcome. Doea anyone have any wooden wire spools they can bring? Does my electric trap sound good for the shotgunners? It was a fun change-up at Keith's back a few shoots ago.
Is anyone here wound up besides me, Jimmy, and Rex??? :350: 4 DAYS AWAY!!!

2 hay wagons on the way and possibly a vehicle of some sort! Should we meet up at the local Gas station before the shoot and drive there in a convoy? There is a huge parking lot there and we can get odds n ends as well. It Shell in Prestonville- at the end of hwy 55. The shoot will be about 9 min away from there. Exact address of the gas station is: 106 Highway 42 W Carrollton, KY 41008 Justin, it's the one we met at on New Year's eve. If anyone wants shortcuts, back road- cross country directions, please call me at 502-525-0235.
Anyone coming from Lexington, the route through Frankfort- Hwy 127, to Hwy 355, to Hwy 227, that's the fastest by far.
Guys from Lebanon, straight up Hwy 55 is the best in my opinion, just not the straightest!!
From the North in Cincy or Florence, I-71 South to Exit 43, Carrollton-English exit then North on Hwy 389 till it ends at Prestonville Shell at Hwy 42/Hwy 36.
From The North in Indiana, Across the Madison/Milton, KY Bridge Hwy 421, then Hwy 36 East towards Carrollton.
The exact address of the shoot is a few posts back at the one I posted with the pics of the range.
I'll have Flourescent Paint for the firing line after we get set up. That should do it for us!!

A big thanks to Craig! Outstanding shoot, great location, good dogs, etc... Dr. Mike you missed out.
The 'Dan'nerite is rough on the random metal targets. lol

I know where a M-16 is for sale, cheap...

Might of known Id buy a '16 with an affinity for Colt HMG / Commando uppers.

Oh well, both of you get a price together... We'll talk.

Thanks again to Craig for the place/prep/food/help with guns/Jerky.

Thanks to Danny for the "Dan"orite and mixing all day.

Thanks be to the makers of Immodium for a calm day.

Good shoot, thanks Craig!! Had a good time as usual. The car was about as destroyed as you can get.The Dan' o rite is the shizzle! Nice big jugs of explosives is always fun.I think more refridgerators are in store next time, they are awesome.I think that is a great place for a shoot. Walked in about midnight and took a well needed shower and some aspirin,I was worn out with the heat/ dust. Thanks again.

Thanks Craig, great shoot had a great time. Good location, food, people, everything was great.

I am going to have to find a faster way to mix that stuff!! It work great, just takes alittle while to mix charges as big as we did, next shoot I will have something faster and easier. I like the boom of the one gallon charge, just need a faster way of doing it!!
