View Full Version : Anyone reload 9mm brass fired out of a P7?

I worry since the chamber is fluted like a G3's that the brass is unsafe to reload. True? False? I shoot my P7 more than anything else lately, those who own one know what I'm talking about.

I do it all of the time.
I use carbide dies so they look good afterwards and I have not had many finish issues. Of course, if you load enough you will collapse one eventually but I chalk that up to my own poor exam after cleaning.
I only load plated bullets and have yet to have any issues. I have several load combinations that I use and will share if you would like.
PM if you wish.

I don't remember the last time my P7 shot factory ammo.
P7's with normal ammo don't do much with the brass.
I've even reloaded some sub-gun ammo fired through a MP5. Those actually had ridges on the outside of the case. They fired fine, though I wouldn't use those more than a few times.

Thanks guys, I figured that was the case. I'm psyched now to start reloading.

The same here....I have gotten into the habit of checking the case length as routine now. If there is anything off I dump it but they do make a few passes from the bench to the gun and back. With lead continuing to rise and ammo going up a lot, I am stockpiling supplies so I can keep shooting in the manner I WANT to.

I have several shooting buddies with P7's so I have picked up their brass from time to time. I know what P7 brass looks like and I have used, continue to use it with no ill effects. I would caution against using brass from a Glock and loading it to high pressure.

Why would a glock be different than any other semi auto pistol?

Please keep in mind I said "high pressure''. Glocks are known for a generous chamber. Not a problem for factory ammo, even the +p stuff. But, reload it a few times and the brass may become weak. Almost all my loads are minimum power factor, that and the loss of brass, I don't worry. For the few times that I load higher pressure loads I choose newer non-Glock brass. Just erring on the safe side.

Glocks are different from any other pistol becase they=
1.Suck
2.Explode in .40
3.Have a trigger that is insane in it's "safety"
They also don't support the chamber much.
Before the flames start, I have shot glocks, have friends who run them and just really, really enjoy jerking people's chains.

Go over to GlockTalk and post this, then; plenty of retards there who will rise to your bait. Folks on this forum are a tad more refined.
And if you think the P7 trigger is "safer" than a Glock, then I suggest you get with someone who has a bit more experience with both...

Glock chamber is only generous in the 40, not the 9mm. But if you want to talk about generous chamber, just look in a P7M8 or a P2000 in 9mm. Both feature a stepped chamber. The bottom 1/3 of the chamber (base end) is about .020" wider than the rest of the chamber. This actually puts a bulge into the bottom of the case, worse than a round fired out of a 40 cal Glock. Keep in mind, HK is KNOWN for destroying brass so you can't reload it. Just look at the rifles.
Even with the fluted chamber and the step in the back, I haven't had any issues with brass. I have an entire 5 gallon bucket of 9mm brass, so the odds of reusing a brass too many times is a non-issue.

Agreed, my PTR-91 rips large long grooves into the brass. I can't ever see being able to reload the mangled husks it produces. :D
And although I like both Glocks and HK's I can agree that this forum is full of much more intelligent people then Blocktalk.com. The people who don't use punctuation or type with the caps lock post nothing worth reading.

I'm starting to like blocks just fine. But jerking people's chains is still really, really fun.
