View Full Version : Value on P7M13 (should I trade it off? towards a PSP)

I have a like new P7 M13 and multiple mags (have to dig them out but I thought it was about 5 extra mags, maybe more).
Sterling, VA marked.
Probably 99%.
Holster (good quality leather IWB).
I used to own a PSP and sold it years ago to get this one...but I've never shot it. I did have the chance to handle a PSP recently and noticed that the "feel" of the PSP was much better in my hand than the M13. I'm sure it is the different grip thickness. Probably why the M13 didn't get used. I think I had the idea that it would be similar in feel, but better because of the thumb mag release and the extra capacity.
Now, I'm trying to decide on holding on to a pistol that I like the idea of (13 rd. squeeze cocker) vs. one I like the feel of (8 rd) and am much more likely to shoot. I have noticed the prices on the recent import PSPs ($600--which is what got me thinking about getting one now, as the price will likely go up once the supply goes away), but am not sure what a good quality M13 would bring (and the extra mags and holster). I know I have the matching box--but I'd have to dig it out to see if it has the tools and manual. I also know that HK isn't making either of them anymore.
Any thoughts from people who own a PSP and an M13, or have owned one and went to the other?
Thank you.

Personally with P7 prices low right now as you said in the $600 range since the flood of Police Trade-In guns I would keep the P7M13 and just save up for a P7 to keep as a shooter. P7's, and P7M8's can be found rather easily now, but P7M13's, and NIB P7M13's esp with the extras you mentioned are much much harder to find.

+1!!!
Keep the M13...you will hate yourself later if you let it go. Remember, TWO in the safe is always better than one!!!
Seriously, I have a P7 and P7M8. They are great guns and I would pick up the M13 if I found one that I just had to have. The M8 spends most of her days now in the safe but does come out to play but the P7 is on me now. I only switched recently as better weather has arrived and my concealment package changed from the belt to an inside option. The heel release aids in the "bumped the mag release" factor in the rig I was using. Magazine prices aside, pick up a P7 for under $600.00 and enjoy both.

A lot of my reasoning is that I just don't care for the feel of the M13. The grip is too thick...I do have a Glock 20 (naturally much thicker grip) which I like to shoot, but the M13 feels "strange" to me...I guess the closest I could describe it is a 1911 shooter who is handed a 15rd. double stack 1911, it just wouldn't feel right compared to what he is used to.
I will probably pick up a PSP either way. If the M13 brings enough, I may get another PSP, or possibly a Serbu BFG (always wanted one).
Just trying to get a feel for the market value on them.

There are two on GB now for about $2,000.00 but that market is always up for inflation...just information for you...

Thanks again.
Are the $2k guns with a fair # of magazines?
What is the going rate for mags?

I think mags are pretty pricey as well (IIRC in the 80-120 dollar range, but dont quote me on that)
if you have a bunch of mags, they'll increase the value ;)

Here's a track on the P7M13 I've been keeping for a while. The prices are climbing, partially due to falling value of the dollar and partially due to the relative scarcity of the gun. Prices were for guns represented at 95% or better without regard to import location (Chantilly, etc), no refurbs, no refinishes, adjusted for two magazines:
Heckler & Koch P7 M13 Pistol in 9mm. Bluebook of Gun Values (29th Edition) indicates between $1250 in 98% condition and $1575 in 100% condition for this gun. I have 125 recorded prices using local and internet sources for this gun from $1100 to $2300 over a period of 1365 days ending April 11, 2008. The average price as of that date was $1600. Current or last MSRP is $1330. The current trend is closer to the $2300 end. Three additional magazines would increase the value by at least $300.
I sold my M13 for the same reasons you brought up. I still kept my AC P7M8.

+2! Trust us on this. Try shooting your M13 for a few weeks and I bet you'll change your mind.

I had seriously thought about buying 2 or 3 PSPs ($600 ea.) and getting several spare mags ($50 x 10).
That totals $1700-2300 (about what the M13 might bring).
If I got more, I'd consider a good holster ($100) and maybe a set of wood grips and hard chrome for one of them ($300).
The other option would be to get one PSP and spend a couple of extra $$ to get the .50 BMG Serbu rifle (would have to save up for the scope later).
Thanks..
