Hi everyone,

I have had my USP 40 compact for a few years now and love it. When I bought it you could only get the 10 round magazines. I didnt care for only having 10 rounds in my carry gun. Now I am seeing some 12 round or more magazines I wouldn't mind picking up a spare priamry mag with more capacity. Are the higher capacity magazines longer than the standard 10 round magazines?

Because I loved the feel of my 40c, I couldn't walk away from getting a used USP in 45acp when I saw it. I absolutely love the gun also. I love how both guns feel, shoot and operate the same. It came with one 10 round magazine. Naturally I need to get a couple more mags.

I am wondering what are some good higher capacity magazines that are available and ones to stay away from for both guns? Where are good places to get reasonable prices at?

I did search the forums and saw a lot of references to the jet funnel magazines. I am not to sure about them and might have to see some first hand.

I sadly noticed that the sights were very hard to near impossible to see in the normal low light in my apartment at night. What are some good aftermarket night sights that others have found. Can these be installed easily by myself ( I do have a decent mechanical ability since I am an aircraft mechanic) or is it best to leave this to a gunsmith?

I am thinking of putting a flashlight on my USP since that would be my primary gun for use at home if I ever needed it (hopefully I will never have too) Would that alleviate the need for night sights on the USP (I also havent seen the difference of a flashlight in low light and being able to see the sights easier.

Now if I can only find the solution to my last problem, finding a way to afford getting all teh HK's that I would love to have LOL.

Thanks for the inputs.

No the mags are not longer, although the base plates may be different. Stay with factory mags. By and large, the aftermarket mags are garbage. A 12 rnd factory usp45 mag runs about $50 right now but if you get them from CDNN they will throw in a free 10 rnd factory mag. The factory mags may be expensive but they are worth it. About the only aftermarket maker I will trust is Mec-Gar; they make really good mags and secretly make factory mags for other manufacturers. Everything I have from them has worked perfectly. But as far as I know, they don't make USP mags. Stick with the factory stuff.

I haven't had any expericence with jet funnels. In my opinion, you won't need them unless you are racing, and even if you are, you can practice and do just fine without a funnel.

I recommend the MMC adjustable night sights. They are small yet adjustable, bright, and carry well. I have them on my usp45. If I had a simple sight tool, I would do the tritium sights my self. I have done non-night sights by myself; I just pounded them on with a hammer and a piece of wood. But with tritiums, it is best to do it with a sight tool (specially designed vice) or have a gunsmith do it so as not to break the vials.

I am a big fan of the usp45. It has become my primary concealed carry gun. Good luck.

I put Trijcon's on my USPc .40, and a surefire on my fullsize .40 for the nightstand. You can get the factory 12rd mags for about $32.00 for your compact, look in the want ads here. I wish the made big dots for H&K!!
