Can someone help me date this gun --NIB serial number 16-12618x, sterling VA
no "read manuel--warning stuff". Is it me or the old gun are better made?
I saw the 1 out of 500 last one made the finish is not as good as this one. I guess this is the older one? finish is very nice.

Umm there should be two letters such as "KE" or "AA" on the frame next to the deer antler. A=0, B=1, C=2 etc. So if the gun says "KE" it would mean it was manufactured in 1994. If you want the exact date of manufacture call HK.

The finish on the older guns is more of a polish than the flat weapons of late. Quality wise you would be hard pressed to find much difference as these guns are all pretty much hand fitted and works of art. About the only gun that precedes it in quality is the SIG 210 and they are not the defensive weapon that the P7 is.
If you use the VA gun much it will plum out on you. It is the nature of the beast. I love all my P7s and do not care if they are plummed,NP3'ed or late model matte. Just great weapons.
Just some thoughts from a collector shooter.
