I went out today and fired off another 2000 rounds of 9mm
I am pleased to say that my USP 9 and Sig 226 both performed flawlessly.
I have 2,000 rounds through the USP with only one stovepipe that I can remember (I use white box from Wally World)
My Sig 226 was the first handgun I ever owned and it was bought for me by my dad when I was 16
So far it has seen 6,000 rounds of mostly WWB and about 300 rounds of +p and +p+ The only failures I can remember was a stovepipe, generic magazine failure and on the first day I shot it a squib round from some retard that reloaded and sold that ammo at a gun show.
One refinish on the Sig so far and it looks great/ like new internally. You can really tell that these original German Sigs are much better quality than that of their U.S. counterpart.
Gotta love German weaponry!

I have almost 11,000 rounds through my USP 9. I have had two stoppages; none in the last 8,500 rounds. Two flat springs have broken, but neither kept the gun from working.

I love the Sig P226 9mm. Great pistol. Right now my P2000 9mm is getting a lot of attention.

funny you mention tha because I am damn close to getting a P2000 or a P30 and HK45
I love the P30 but the fact that it has no safety is a deal breaker for me. Which sucks because I love it...same goes for the P2000

I have a USP Tactical in .45, and my wife has a new Sig P226R
Last week at the range my friend Jon, who has a Full Sized USP 9mm brought his gun along. Now, between the Tactical and the Sig, I'll take the Tactical every time. I should mention, in the first week my wife had her Sig, she put 1250 rounds through it ;)
The Sig vs the 9mm usp. Personally, I actually like the heavier Sig better.
of course YMMV ;)

For all the tactical uses my USP since I have the light and suppressor but for quick follow-up and since I am more accurate with Sig I like it a tiny bit more.
Keep in mind its my first gun I ever owned so I am super attached and with the Sig I have had way more trigger time on it.

Doesn't your P226 lack a manual safety as well?

safetys are over rated if you have good muzzle discipline thats your safety. unless you are carrying a 1911 that will always be cocked when you got one in the pipe. having a safety on that puppy might be a good idea if you gonna carry it around in your pants.

I have a newer factory reconditioned "CPO" 226 (1989 vintage). I'd HIGHLY agree that our all German 226 is the way to go.
That gun balances EXTREMELY well, reliable as hell, good capacity, and has a distinguished military pedigree.
I am probably most accurate with that pistol. It shoot's like it was radar guided -is really the best way I can describe it.

Ahhhhhh, touche....
You may have sold me on the P30 my friend, check mate to you
I guess I am just stuck mentally on the HK having a safety on the side

I thought so. ;)
How heavy is the DA pull on your P226? My uncles P229 SCT's DA pull is not that bad while his older P225 is very heavy to the point of being terrible. I much prefer the DA on the P30 over both these SIGs. The SIG DA feels very "mushy" to me compared to the HK. The P30 DA is rigid while still being smooth and for me it is just light enough to shoot well in addition to still feeling safe to carry. Still partial to the SIGs though, very soft recoiling guns in 9mm.
Try a P30 if you can. Only downside is the cost, because you will buy it once you try it! :D

I have to agree. The German Sigs really feel like they're much better made than some of the newer ones. I have an old school P226 just like yours, and it's my oldest pistol. It's had thousands of rounds through it, and the internals look great. When I look at the newer P229Rs, they have more tooling marks on the inside of the slide, and feel much rougher.

The DA is smooth I polished all of the internal surfaces but it was always nice ever since day one.
