Recently I took my ccw class and one of the guys at the shop told me not to store my usp in the foam egg crate that it comes in from HK because it traps moisture inside and is bad for the gun. Is that accurate or is it ok to keep it in the box? Thanks.

Its fine to store you HK in the box that HK ships the guns in, as they can, and sometimes do, sit in those plastic/foam boxes for years before they arrive in the customer's gun safe. Don't fill the box with water and you'll be fine, as with USPs I think you'd purposefully try to induce rust on it to get it rusty.
Somebody should make a book of the delightful bits of idiocy like you heard from your gunshop, it would be entertaining and most of us could put 15 or more entries in it!
I'm sure he had a great case right on his shelf to sell you, in place of that nasty HK box!

Thanks bradhenn. I honestly thought the same thing...that HK would not case them in something harmful. Appreciate it.

All the same, no harm in leaving that pack of dessicant in the case, too.

They sit in the boxes for years, sometimes, before they're sold. I bought a 'brand new' USPf40 last year made in 2004.
