View Full Version : What I Really Want From HK

There have been a lot of threads on this board about what folks would like to see HK produce. Many are pie in the sky dreams...

Page 15 of the LE catalog... it's a picture that has been tormenting me since I first saw it. Not a big picture, it's actually pretty small. I *know* that HK is thinking about it because there is a prototype in a darn catalog!

I want my P46 in 4.6x30. I could care less what variant...

Just curious... why? Just to collect? This is basically an HK version of FN's FiveseveN, right? I've heard they're not selling well - and I'm not surprised. The ammo's expensive and from what I've heard, not very effective except at penetrating body armor. We mere civvies can't own that ammo anyway, and the bad guys aren't likely to have it, either.

I'd be in for one of those... nothing like having the 'ultimate' :)

from what I have read, it operates with a gas delay system... is it like the P7 gas delay system? I wonder...

I'm anxious to see how they have implemented that system in this pistol.

As a collector item sure.
Anything else is unpractical!
You can buy from Midway USA the ammo by the way: http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=832385&t=11082005

I'm not exactly sure why you would want that either. The caliber is extremely small... smaller than .22 and the ammo is almost three times the price as my 9mm ammo for a box of 50. It would be cool to have if the bullets were as cheap as .22 but that's definitely not the case. Hell, they're more expensive than my 7.62 rounds for my AK!

If it's just for collection purposes than that would be fine, but other than that it really isn't practical.

I agree on the P46. I would like one too! Why? Because it says HK on it. Also 5.7 rounds really aren't that expensive considering they seem to be a bit cheaper than .45acp in some places. I think some new calibers would be a breath of fresh air. Everything is in 9mm, 40, 45, 223, 7.62X39 or 308. I just wish 10mm and 357sig were cheaper, gas too!

I'd like a P30 with the trigger from an LEM Combat Competition, and make it available in .40 and .357SIG.

I'm looking at a 5.7 after I get my first .223.

Saw some videos posted at FN Forum where the 5.7 out performs the 9mm in backyard testing (yes I understand that this type of testing holds no merit, but it does show the round packs some power)

Since we're in the Handgun Forum I'll say that I would like to see a domestically-made SP89.
I can dream, can't I?

:D

The P46 uses the 4.6x30mm ammunition just like the MP7. I'm sure it has a ton of muzzle velocity and will penetrate well, but I don't see it having much stopping power. I wouldn't mind spending the money on those bullets if I had an MP7(even though I would run out extremely fast), but for a pistol, I just don't see it being worth spending $28 for a box of 50. I realize it's a much larger cartridge than .22LR, but if the price was similar I'd probably be all over it myself, because, like you said, it says 'HK' on it. I think the gun is cool and everything, but the cost of ammo for it is what kills it for me.
