i own a glock 23 40cal and a hk p2000sk v3 357sig. i like both guns and contemplating either buying a 357 glock barrel or a 40 cal hk barrel to make both guns either 357 or 40cal. i dont want to start an all out caliber war im just looking for more pros vs cons of each caliber to help me decide which caliber i should stick with.

pros of the 357sig
bottle neck casing allows for smoother feeding
less snappy recoil than 40 cal
higher velocity
glock 357 sig barrel is cheaper than hk 40cal

cons of 357
cost$$$$$ of ammo
makes a smaller hole than 40

pros of 40 cal
cheaper ammo
makes a bigger hole

cons of 40cal
hk barrel is more expensive than glock
slower velocity

Get a 9mm and run Ranger +P+ for self defense and regular ammo for practice. Tad ah, no more thought to calibers, no more barrel swapping, no more expensive ammo :).

Just teasing of coarse :).

I vote 357SIG just cause it sounds cooler and fun to shoot!

But 40S&W is pretty easy to find and much cheaper - so that may be the more LOGICAL way to go.

Oh boy, here we go again!!!!
Anyway, my vote is .357 SIG.

.40SW - cheaper ammo, not as hard on the pistol. Best wishes finding .357sig ammo....40SW is everywhere ammo is sold.

I'd go with .40 as well. Actually I'd skip both and go right to .45 or just stay with 9mm. Anyway, .40 is the better choice for ammo price and availability.
