I'm interested in purchasing a P2000 in 9mm. How does it compare to the Sig226? Can you use +P loads with it? Thank you for your input.

I can't speak to the P2000 specifically, but I have shot +P in my P30 and USPf .40 S&W.
I've put about 25 rounds of Federal Hydrashock JHP +P in the P30.. no issues.
I've done 50 rounds of Winchester Ranger JHP Law Enforcement Ammo (which I believe is +P, if not +p+).. this comes in the brown box with yellow lettering.. in my USPf .40 with no issues.
I don't plan on using it often, but to make sure the gun handles it and that the shooter is comfortable with it.
I believe I saw a post from the HK USA forums by one of the HK Customer Service reps saying that +P was not something that should be used often? I could be wrong.

in most of the manuals it says what each pistol is capable of firing. i think most all hk pistols can shoot +p and +p+ ammo you just dont want to shoot it all the time you will get faster wear on the pistol and its parts.

Does the manual say it can be used or has HK rep said so?

Ok, here is the deal as far as I understand it with +P ammunition.
All newer auto loaders can handle it. That is what the designation is for.
What the cut off date is I'm not sure.
HK manual says they don't recommends it as it will accelerate wear on the pistol. Which is kind of a no-brainer, if you shoot 10,000 rounds of WWB and 10,000 rounds of +p you might notice a difference in wear if you measure all your parts and springs etc.
There are no official specifications for .40 +p so that you are shooting at your own risk as they can be loaded to different loads from the factory.
The P2000 will handle +p with no issues.
Do some research online and you should find similar results to my response. If not, and everyone says I'm wrong, then disregard.

Greetings,
The P2000 9mm x 19 will be able to "eat" +P ammo. I have shot and use Speer Gold Dot 124 grain +P and one box of Winchester 127 grain +P+. I would not necessarily recommend a steady diet of either ammo load through the P2000 or any 9mm x 19 for that matter.
Also . . . I know of no .40 S&W commercial ammo that is rated +P or +P+. Some have commented above about shooting .40 S&W +P, but there is no ammo specification for that load that I can locate. Are you sure that there is some .40 S&W +P out there available for purchase?

I could have been wrong about the Winchester Ranger .40 being +P. It is extremely hard to find solid information on this ammo as there are a few different versions within the Ranger line.
I can tell you this though.. the Winchester Ranger JHP (Law Enforcement) in 155grain .40 S&W feels like a cannon compared to normal 165grain Winchester White Box. I mean its insane, not only in feel but in sound. So I guess I just assumed it was +P to have that much of a difference.
My bad if I was wrong.
thanks

The P226 is bigger.
Sig's quality control sucks these days.
That is all.
