make a USP 45 go bang 14 or 15 times

Did you know that if you replace the spring and follower in a HK USP 45 mag with one from a Para-Ordnance 14 round 45 mag that you can get 1 or sometimes two extra rounds in the HK mag? I went through about 6 mag loads without a hitch. Intresting Huh? Or is this old news?

Kewl +1 but all I ever hear about Para is bad, so I probably won't be throwing one of their springs into my HK

Actualy I own a LDA 14 and an LDA 12 and they both do really well. I am not sure I would depend on this hybrid setup for self defense without a LOT more test , it is just intresting for now. Makes you wonder if you could shave a little off of the USP follower and get a least one more in.

I know my Para mag springs are better than HK mag springs. It took 5 years of constant shooting before I had a mag spring go bad. This is using a stock spring designed to hold 16 rounds of 40 cal, but being used in an extended mag to hold 20-21 rounds. My USP mag springs are all pretty much toast and that gun saw far less use than the P16.

Just for grins, I just cut a slot in a P14 mag and it works. It feeds dummy rounds so I won't know about real ammo till I get to the range. It locks open but I think I cut it a smidge low as it dosn't pop out on hitting the release. Kina cool option if it is 100% reliable. 15 round USP 45 T, Sorta really makes my new HK45 at 10 rounds look even weaker. Oh well, at least it is a little smaller and I can carry it without printing.

I dont see why it wouldnt work. The USP .45 is pretty big....stuff those springs and followers in the usp mags and give it a try.

It worked, I fired about 50 rounds out of the Para-Ordnance P14 mag that I cut the slot in and there were no problems whatsoever. CDNN has factory p14 and P14+1 Para Mags for $29.99 so it shoud read how to make a USP 45 go bang 15 or 16 times now with mags that cost half what HK's do. I still will keep a 12 round HK mag in the grip for night stand duty but for range use it sure is fun. I told one of the guys that it was a new mod by HK and he ate it up. :61:
