What kind of life span can I expect on the HK45 mags

I would think a few years or more depending on usage.

Dpends on how much the springs are compressed/decompressed

Can you clarify that? A few years? You mean the entire mag assembly, or the springs? I assumed with the steel mags of an HK45, you could just replace the springs and have the mags in service for as long as the gun.

I've been using the original 10rd mags that I got with my USP for over 11 years with about 10,000 rounds through them.

Forever, you will have to replace the springs occasionally.

I expect my son and maybe his could use these mags but they will have light sabers by then.

What kind of round count is everybody getting from the oem mag springs?

Heyseed, the notion that mag springs loose their springeness over time is a myth. there are things that will cause it, espcially heat, but not time. I have 3 guns that are over 70 years old and the mag springs still work perfectly every time.

In my carry USPC .45 I have over 11,000 rounds through three mags and they are all still running stock springs.

The short answer is they will last from two weeks to twenty or more years. If you are unlucky enough to get hold of a mag that has one of those weak springs that we ran into a year or so back then it will start failing to lock the slide back on an empty mag pretty soon. In that case replace them with Wolff +10% power springs and be done with it. But so far I have been lucky and have not gotten a bad spring yet. Other have had several of them. I do not let them pick my lottery numbers!

My USP 40 is 9 years old. It has about 10k rounds, only 2k of those in the last 5 years or so. I finally started having some feed issues so I replaced the mag springs which corrected the problem. My USP 45 is 4 years old and I have the same mags. I just keep an eye out for damage, seperation, stuff like that. I replaced the springs in those mags a few months back as well. I wasn't having any trouble, just wanted to make sure I wouldn't. My USP 45 has seen about 7k rounds and is loaded all the time. For the most part, I would describe HK mags as very durable and could outlast you. If you just shoot at the range; for fun, you'll know when they go bad and that's when to replace the springs (assuming nothing is bent, broken, etc). If you carry for work or defense, I would suggest replacing the springs every few thousand rounds or every couple years, just to be on the safe side. Springs are pretty cheap from wolff.
