So I sold my p2000sk .40 yesterday and bought a new P30. I'm a smaler guy, but I have wide hands, and the sk just wasn't comfortable for me to shoot. It was really easy to conceal, but I wasn't nearly as accurate with it as I am with other guns. I also wanted to switch to a 9mm. I originally went into the gun shop wanting to buy the regular sized p2000 in 9mm, but they didn't have any. They had a new P30 there for around $800. I asked if I could hold it and the grip felt amazing. The grip literally just sleeps in you hand, especially with the different sized panels. The gun has amazing styling as well, which is always a plus.
The only thing I'm worried about is concealing the grip, which is a little long. Anyone have any recommendations for some good IWB holsters that will help me conceal this gun. I live in the Sonoran Desert, so it's warm pretty much all year, and I usually wear T-shirts. I might have to start wearing a thicker shirt, like a safari shirt or something, for concealment. I'm psyched to take this gun out and shoot it today.
As for ammo, this is my first 9mm, and most of the information I've found has recommened to carry 124gr +p ammo in the gun for self defense. I know a lot of people carry the 147gr, but I've heard some stories calling its effectiveness into question. There's not too much difference in weight, and Kinectic Energy=(1/2)mv^2, so physics would point towards the lighter but faster bullet as transferring more energy into the target. As for brand, I think I'll stick with Speer Gold Dot or Federal HST. I was a little worried at first about carrying a 9mm, but it seems most of the sientific research using modern hollowpoints rates the 9mm an effective manstopper. The only thing I really have to worry about is if I get attacked by someone on meth, in which case I'll just have to shoot them in the head, like a zombie. Sorry for the rant, but I'm excited about this new gun. Range opens in half an hour, gotta go.

I'm using a Peter's Custom Holsters, Hold Fast (Made for my USP Tactical) to conceal my P30 until Greg can ship me holsters made for the P30. It works very well under an un-tucked shirt. I work in an area that has a no-"weapons" policy and no one has noticed in the last week.

Congrats on your P30. As for carry I have mine on my left hip with no holster. I have a leather vest on with two extra mags. Plus I've used unbutton shirts with tank top underneath. Down here where i'ts 87F now in Sunny FLA. I have no problem with the butt of my P30. Range report when you can.

Thanks guys. Well, the gun shot amazing. I never realized how good of a shot I was. With my sk my groupings were always kinda big, especially while double-tapping. At 40 feet I put all my rounds into the circle on the targets head; the holes were pretty much on top of each other. It felt really good. After a year of shooting sub-compacts, I just thought I wasn't a very good shot. Now that I have a gun that fits my hand I can see how all those days at the range realy did make me a pretty good shot. The only problem I had was sometimes the side wouldn't lock back after the last round had been fired. Sometimes it would but sometimes it wouldn't. Is this apart of the break in process for this gun, or should I get stiffer mag springs. I haven't had this issue with any of my other HKs.

I would dare guess that you are using a thumbs forward grip & you are accidentally hitting the slide lock with your thumb, preventing it from engaging. Try moving your thumb(s) down / out / away from the slide lock & see if that helps.

Yeah I have started using thumbs forward and have hit the slide stop on both my P2000 and P30, not a big deal to me.
As for IWB, comp-tac Ghurka holster is amazing for it, the grip size isn't the issue to me, it was the rubbing against my skin that bothered me, I have since switched to a P2000 and with more practice I will have the LEM mastered and it will be the perfect pistol for me.
I would carry the P30 if I didn't have the irritation with the grip. The P2000 feels just fine in the hand, but your right, it's no P30, it's on a different level than any other pistol out there right now.

Try the G.I. Stealth by Ghost Inc. It is a belt clip that attaches to the rail. About $30, simple, effective.

I saw a P30 where the guy smoothed out the sand paper texture. Gun looked great and had no more irritation from what he said.
I'm going to do it to mine. I don't even care if it doesn't look completely professional.
I forget what he said he used to do it though.

That holster is just asking to shoot yourself in the side or the ass. I carry with one in the chamber so that would make me paranoid as hell.

I got a MTAC (from the Comp-Tac folks) holster for my P30, it works very well. I do have to cinch my belt pretty tight to get the grip to stay in close though. I wear a tshirt under and another shirt over so the grip texture doesn't irritate.

Thanks for all the advice. I think you may be right about my thumb hitting the slide release, because I focused on my thumb yesterday while at the range, and magically the slide locked back everytime. I was getting a little nervous because I had a couple FTEs with WWB and some reloads, and the shells were being ejected weird. However, I put a couple hundred rounds of Federal HST 147gr through it, which is what I carry, without a single hiccup. I ended up ordering the Comp-Tac CTAC holster. The adjustable cant should help with concealment. The grip is fairly rough on bare skin, but it doesn't bother me too much. I really love this gun. It's probably the most pissed looking gun out there.

Would love more info, though it seems my p30 is sold and I am really liking the P2K
