Hey guys,
I was talking to Ken Hackathorn last weekend about the HK1911. He said that part of the reason HK was interested was that they were planning on discontinuing P7 production and wanted something to do with their metal working equipment/workers that were dedicated to P7 production.
I told him he should have told them to keep making P7s. He said, "I have always called the P7 the Porsche of handguns."

Ooh, more great quips to add to my spring collection. I can't wait to tell my Ranger buddy that he "shoots like a SEAL".

The latest issue of SWAT magazine has a number of vickerisms on 1911's.
HK1911 I dont think would have sold well at the price HK would have to have charged for a clone Colt 1911. I dont buy 'clones' of any kind, the originals seem better and have their own 'mojo or mystique'.
Would you buy a clone USP or P7 or HK45 or P30? I wouldnt either...originals for me thanks! :)
I would buy an FN P35 tho...only because they make the same one for Browning.

I just wish I knew what an HK 1911 would have looked like.
So what happened with the Metal workers making P7? Out of a job? Doing something else? Making rifles for Merkal?

+1 I am sure the gun would have looked great and been an excellent example of the 1911. I would buy one :)

I guess I'm 1911'ed out after 30+ years of them. Plus making a 1911 is very different from anything HK makes now as Sig found out.
