I just noticed on the CA DoJ site of handguns certified for sale that the P7M8 is still listed. Are these guns still available for purchase NIB? If so, what are these things going for?
Later this year, I'd like to pick up a 9mm. I'd been really only looking at the P2000/USPc (P30 isn't CA legal), but I must admit I find the P7M8 really sexy.

H&K USA stated last year that they were keeping it on the CA approved list so vendors could move their exisiting stock.
I believe NIB P-7M8 will run you around $1300-1500 depending on the date code.

Ouch, that's quite a premium over a USPc or P2k.

It has always been a $1300 gun. That hasn't changed. That's the price for machining steel. It's not a tuperware gun.

I bought my NIB P7M8 for around $800 back before the feeding frenzy started.

Is there any hope it will be reborn like the Mk 23 seems to be every once in a while?

No. It is not a cost effective gun for HK to build. Selling plastic framed guns for the same price as metal framed guns means more profit.

Its because the P7M8 is in an entirely different league. Think a Seiko watch compared to a Rolex ;). You need to shoot one to understand.

I wouldn't bet against not seeing some P7M8's brought over in limited #'s in the future. With the way HK works it always a possibility. The P7M8 was supposedly discontinued 3 years ago
Now is the best time to buy one if you can. There have been some great deals the past couple months. NIB examples can be found in the classifieds section for around $1100-$1200.

So do these still exist in the supply chain? Any hope they'll still be around at the end of the year?
With all the expenses of relocating and having just bought the HK45, it'll be pretty hard to justify before then.

Yeah I am sure that there are dealers out there who still have some in stock although you may pay a premium from a dealer. If not save some $ and buy either a used one or a NIB model from the classifieds section and have them ship it to your FFL as the gun is still on the CA approved list.

Rather than picking up another P7M8 I opted for one of the ex-police P7PSPs imported by HK USA and sold through CDNN. My example looked brand new and has been my main carry gun since its purchase. If I'm not wrong they still have some in stock and the prices are hard to beat. Pick up a grade A pistol and enjoy.

except that the P7 is not on the "CA safe handgun whatever-bull-crap" list, so we really only have access to P7M8s and P7s that were already in the state (and marked up around $300 above market value)

Too true. But I do love my "tactical tupperware". :)
Head on over to parkcitiestactical.com and check out the cult of the p7 forum. You will find them up for sale in really good condition very frequently. I just got my second M8 that way, 1150 for a lnib M8... great deal.
Took it out to the range and it is hands down the most accurate handgun I own. Even over the HK45. Ill dig up a pic I took at the range tonight of a target I put 8 rounds in.
