Hello Guys,
I've been out of the loop for a while, and have searched and searched but cannot find what the DE engraved on the side of my P30 means. It's about the size of the serial number and is placed right after the antler. The brass was collected on 4-28-08 so it's a pretty fresh gun. I have seen another gun on the sales board with this. Normally I keep up with the HKs better then this so it's starting to bug me.
Thanks,
Sean

My guess is "DE" simply means "Deutschland"

DsandH2. The "DE" means that you can not have it. However it does mean that I may, so you can send it to my FFL. HAHA.......anyone?.........anyone?
Seriously I would really like to know as well.

Thats new to me. Maybe it is placed on the AI guns (Mine is AH)? My guess right now is with mambro and meaning "Deutschland".

HEY... Maybe they're gearing up for US production and they're making the extra marking to indicate the German manufacture vs what will probably be US on the domestic models?
Just a thought...

My AI HK45c does not have it....They even left the proof mark,"the little bird laying the N", off the left side of the frame in the shiny black square, but it is on the right side of the frame. All of my other plastic HKs have the mark on both sides.
Haven't had a chane to shoot it yet, but it does fill pretty awesome with the large inserts in place. If I can get free this weekend I'll have to give it hell.

I too would like to know what the DE marking is for. I noticed the threaded HK45 barrels have the DE marking in addition to the AI date code as well. See the picture below for reference.

They must've started that for AI. My P30 is AH and does not have the DE mark.

Actually... that makes a tremendous amount of sense. I think we have a winner. Weren't there US engravings on the slides of some HK45s and HK45c's?

So could that possibly mean that we will have the MR223 on the horizon?

They better hurry up and bring it to the US. With a possibly Obama election in November, things will get shut down within a year or so.
I want the MR223 really badly!

Don't kid yourself. The government couldn't move that quickly if lives depended on it.

It stands for "Deutschland" (Germany) per conversation with HK customer service.
