View Full Version : Will there ever be a .40 P30?

I really like the P30's that I've fondled and the HK45's for that matter too. If I were to get another pistol it would likely be a .40 for commonality with my duty gun, at my new agency. This brings me to the question, since I really don't want to buy another 9mm or .45, will I ever be able to buy a .40 P30? What kind of time frame would I be looking at if a .40 ever was released?

We don't know, but it could be.

I'd bet on it. The P30 is the heir apparent to the P2000, which comes in .40, so it only makes sense. Plus, as a weapon designed with the duty weapon market in mind, I can't imagine they'd ignore a common service caliber.

Of course they will, the fight will be for those of us who carry it for them to make a 357 Sig. There is just too huge a market in 40 for HK to ignore.

I tend to hold HKPRO's comments in high regard, heres what hes said on the subject:
HKPRO- "I don't believe this is in the cards, without a very large US order.
This gun was made for the European police market."
HKPRO- "I haven't heard anything new in this area. There aren't going to be P30s in other calibers. It's a European based gun and they're not into .40 at all."
So there you go

HKPRO is right. If it wasn't for the huge DHS contract we wouldn't have seen the P2000 in .40 or .357sig either. Unless the same is asked for the P30 by a large LE/Military agency I don't see other calibers anytime soon.

While not nearly as customizable as the p30, if the .40 is a deal breaker for you, Id suggest giving a sig pro a try. Its roughly the same size with the smaller grip and is, IMO, probably the most underrated pistols out there with a fantastic trigger. Not to mention you can get them for a song....

Ya mean like the huge .223 AR market? They've been ignoring that for years.

it would be nice to see it in .40cal. chances of it in 357sig are prob slim cuz they just stopped the 357sig for the p2k. plus isnt the p30 basically a p2k with a better grip.

I tend to trust HKPro's information, so it looks like I shouldn't get my hopes up. As far as HK ignoring the demands of their customers, I'll say that I like HK as much as the next guy, but let's face it they've always danced to the beat of their own drummer. There could be a huge demand for .40 P30's, but let's face it, if HK doesn't feel like making one, it won't be made.

It's the one I'm waiting for. I love the P30 but I've got to have it in 40. No reason other than that is my preferred caliber.

A lot of new pistols are designed for the .40 first like the M&P and the XDM whereas the P30 looks like it was designed with the 9mm in mind. I would wonder if the P30 as it is currently designed could withstand a lot of .40 rounds.

I sure wouldn't be interested in another water on the brain version like the P7M10.
