New to all this so be gentle.

Just recently bought a HK SK .40 Lem with aftermarket nightsights, gun is not new but only has less than 1000 rounds. After a range session and subsequent cleaning I was able to move the front sight!! Well a little more nudge and it came out. I was able to slide it back in and it stopped at a point that "seemed" to be centered. Maybe that was part of my problem with getting a good grouping at the range, although I kept all shots within an 8x11 sheet of target paper with over 50% within a 4 inch circle.

Is there any fix for this?? I do have the original sights if I need to go back to them.

Thanks,

Paul B

Do you know where the sights were originally installed? What brand sights are they? If they are THAT loose you might either have sight groove damage, or the wrong sight for your gun. You could use a micrometer or something to compare the original (factory) sight to your problem sight and see if it an incorrect size. Sorry, I'm probably not much help otherwise.

On the bright side, you now have an excuse to get a new set of Trijicons or Meprolights!

Good luck, and I am sure there are others here who could help more.

I think they are Meprolights. I'll have to look tonight. I does say tur dot on the side of the front sight.

Does it look like the sight groove is damaged? If the H-E finish is still intact in the groove, you have a sight too small. If it is shiney and gouged... you have a sight groove damage. Call Trijicon or Meprolight to see if they offer an oversized sight... Better yet try a good gunsmith in your area.

On that note, where are you? I recommend giving Florida Gun Exchage a call. They are in Port Orange. They are an authorized HK dealer, they will help you, good shop there. If they cannot repair your particular problem they can find someone who can.

I had a similar situation arise with a Sig P226. I laid the front sight up-side-down in an vice and peened the edges on the bottom of the sight base with a center punch. After that I applied red Loc-tite and drifted the sight back in place. This totally solved the problem and there hasn't been an issue with movement since then (I think it has been nearly two years since I "fixed" it).

I'll give FGE a go. Was there just today but didn't have my SK with me. They are about 10 miles south of me.
