Sig Pro-

costs less
phosphated magazines
2 grip options
standard rail

HK USPc-

more compact
better mag release
has more trigger options(lem/safety)

Beyond that, they are pretty much the same. I like the USP grip better in terms of its aggressive stippling, but some people prefer something less aggressive. I honestly feel the sig pro is without a doubt the most underrated pistol out there. It shoots great, is very reliable and has a fantastic trigger. Ive carried one on duty for almost 4 years. I cant tell you how many rounds ive put through it, but Ive beat the hell out of it and it just keeps going. Ive shot it enough to wear out 2 sets of magazine springs. I drink the HK kool aid pretty heavy, but I like the sig pro just as well as my hk's.

When we did our pistol trials that resulted in the choice of the Sig Pro, we abused the heck out of them. The Sig Pro passed the "USP torture test" and then some. We shot it frozen, shot it after baking it in a oven, shot it from mud, from water, from sand, we threw it off the tops of buildings, ran over it with a light duty bull dozer, lodged a bullet at the end of the barrel, and then we shot it some more. We got bored of shooting it so we started shooting at it with other pistols and it kept going. We shot it with a 5.56 round and it finally failed to fire. We inspected it, replaced the trigger spring and bar, and then kept firing it with a hole in the frame.

I have nothing bad to say about the gun. Im actually going to buy one of my own in 9mm next week. On sig forum, a seller 220st has some German Police runs(NIB) with german proof marks and ilaflon slides(tennifer type finish) selling for 479 with 3 mags. Thats a smoking deal.

In short, I love my HK's but again, have nothing but positive things to say about the Sig Pro.

If memory serves, the Sig is an all-metal frame, and to me felt somewhat nose-heavy. So I went with the USPc.

The Sig Pro frame is composite like a USP.

I have them both in 40/357 and love them both. The SigPro has a great trigger...even better than my P229s. I hear the SigPros will last forever and if you ever have a problem Sig Customer service is good, but they are much bigger than the USP compact. To me the USP compact is one of the best platforms available today.

Thank you for the correction. I'll have to take another peek when I next visit the store.

Sigpro's were discontinued this year...I'd get one if you really want one.

Do the SigPro's have a safety and decock or decock only, and is it different for those German LE models?

Hold each and see which feels better in your hand.
You cannot go wrong with either one.

Decocker only like the P Series.

There are three SigPro models. I believe the SP2340 and SP2009 were the only ones discontinued. The SP2022 is still being produced.

I believe the above is true. the 2340 and 2009 were non rail. 2022 is railed and the new production.

I personally like the USPc better then the SP. But sp2009s can be had for cheap, and they arent bad pistols.

I had the sigpro sp2340 in .40 cal. It was a polymer frame with a proprietary rail. No manual safety, decock, and mags with pinkie rests.

Back then they were having bad problems with mags. Floorplates breaking mainly.

The newer series is pretty much the same except for a standard rail. I would imagine/hope they solved the mag problems as well.

Never heard of floorplate issues...

My pro was one of the first to be produced for the US market and has over 20k rounds through it. Ive worn out the mag springs 2x(which is my only complaint)

The only problem I had with mag floorplates breaking was the little tab at the rear that did absolutely nothing. The floorplate itself was fine. None of our department guns had a problem with them cracking either, although that doesnt mean it hasnt happened elsewhere.

So far our pro's have been great. My mag springs were alot better when I exchanged my old blued style mags for the new parkerized ones. I broke the tabs off in about 3mo, but have had zero feeding or reliability issues with them, and the springs were stiffer.

Hope that helps.

Wonder why the tabs are there is they break off?

I will need to do some searching for threads of an issue..

Thanks for the additional input

They break because they are plastic and the magazines drop right on the little tab. I dont know why they put them there in the first place. The 229 doesnt use them, and they dont serve a purpose beyond cosmetic on the pro.
