View Full Version : Another new HK45c
Well - had a few $$ to spend after selling a few guns and originally went down to my local shop to buy a G30SF but wanted to handle the HK45c first (being a USP fan). Liked em both but since I had the xtra cash - went with the HK45c. Didn't have time to try it out yet but would like to hear from fellow members that have one of these on how they handle. Does the added o-ring make much of a difference in accuarcy compared to the USP 45c? This will be my new primary CCW.
Not mine but a great pic that I 'borrowed" ;)

The one thing I don't like about the Hk45c, well actually there's two things.
1) I can only carry one gun at a time and I already have a P30
2) They don't make bodies that fit for the Comp-Tac MTAC which makes me sad.

Mine is awesome, and has become my favorite handgun. Conceals easier than my G19, very soft shooting for a .45, and very accurate. Pick up some flat mag floor plates for concealing it, makes a big difference compared to the pinky rest ones.

Yep, I agree and already have the flat base plates on as I carried my USP 45c with them and prefer that for carry.

I love that gun, it would be perfect if it had the LEM and flat base plates.

Very happy with the performance of this gun, I would recommend the 10rnd mags. I had much tighter groups with the 10rnders, the guns ergonomics felt better to me, also a hogue grip if you don't like the grip.

Very nice choice. I compared its size to a Glock 23 the other day, and they are very close. 9 shots of .45, good ergos and C&L and you have a winner.
That kind of brings up a question I had. Do most people carry C&L with the models that support that, or do they generally carry with a DA first pull?
I'm going to be carrying a HK45 and HK45c and am curious.

I would say that most that primarily carry an HK carry condition 1 or just use the LEM, I dont know very many that carry condition 2.
I carry DA first pull on the HK45C V1.
I often carry the P30 to change things up, or when slightly better concealment is needed.
Keeping the DA pull makes the draw to fire motion uniform.

Where did you get the 10 rd mags?

I believe the HK45 mags, which hold 10, will fit in the HK45c.

You can also get 10 round mags made for the HK45c. They have a larger base which blends in more with the compact frame.
You can get them from places like Top Gun Supply and Shooter's Plus.

Good to know. I'll have to check them out.

I just acquired a HK45c a few days ago and have hit the range twice with it. This weapon will become my EDC as soon as i get some quality leather for it and some nightsights. I can see another 45c being purchased soon.

For me whether I carry cocked and locked depends on the holster as much as anything. If the holster has a sweat shield that is blocked for cocked and locked then I certainly carry that way. I'm going to get an Infidel for my HK45 Compact and will request it molded that way or use a heat gun myself to block the heat shield for cocked and locked.

Enjoy the pistol. I've never cared for the grip size in relation to slide on the 45c but I'm starting to come around and may pick one up soon. I like my HK 45's so much I think I need the compact to round things out.

You need to get one! The HK45c shoots just as good as the HK45 and its size is perfect for carry.

Yeah, that's what I did. :D The HK45 and 45c make a fine pair!

+1. I did find that putting the flat floorplate on the "carry" magazine helped a great deal. Makes the grip seems small to me, but a Hogue Handall took care of that.

Admitedly, I'm a newbie who's intrigued by the idea of owning a HK so here's the question I have that I've searched for and can't seem to find so I thought I'd ask....
What are the basic differences in the new HK45 and the HK USP?
If there's a link to a thread you can throw me, by all means do so! I'm trying to decide whether to look at the HK45, HK45 Compact, HK USP 45 or HK USP Compact 45.
:o
My access to being able to see and hold much less shoot these options here in far northern WI. is very limited short of driving several hundred miles to various places and ranges.
Thanks much and I'll sit down and wait for my answer.....

The HK45 has the match trigger from the USP line (optional accessory). It also has the standard picatinny rail system to accomidate tac-lights etc. The HK45c I don't believe has the same trigger as the HK45 full size, but the trigger is very smooth. Both are basically upgrades from the USP line but not revolutionary in any one way. Except for the HK45's grip which is amazing.

Allegedly. I think someone here was told by someone at HK that was indeed the Match trigger, but this hasn't been publicly confirmed nor denied by HK. HK-USA's site specifically lists the Match Trigger under "Features" on the USPs that have this trigger system. Incidentally, they do not list this as a feature on the HK45.
Furthermore, HK Customer Service has avoided this question (http://hk-usa.com/wforum/viewtopic.php?t=2478) on their own forum, meanwhile answering several questions that came both before and after it. It seems to me that if it were true that it had the match trigger, they would openly say so, as this would be considered an additional feature & value for the HK45.
