It being June 2008, it would seem only logical to assume that the HK45s with the date code “AI” are being sold, but all I have been seeing in gun shops and at gun shows are ones with the date code “AH.”

Even though I am 99.99% sure the answer is “yes,” I have to ask: Does anyone here have an HK45 with the date code “AI.”

AI date coded HK45, HK45c, and P30's are available for sale and have been for months (as well as all the other current HK handgun models). If you do a search there have been pics posted from various members showing off their new guns :D. I am guessing that the reason your local shops/shows still have the AH coded guns is because they are not selling. Once they do the next guns they get should be AI marked.

Thanks guys.

Like I said, I was 99.99% sure they were being sold, but I just wanted to make certain before I requested one.

Is there a difference in the gun? My 45c is AH.

NO! Just an 07 or an 08 model. IMHO I would prefer a very early 07 German manufacture than a late 08. Soon they will all be mostly American made. Just like Medicare, Medicaid, and the U.S. Post Office it will be the only weapon in the world that won't shoot, won,t feed, and need at least 6-8 weeks between outings before it will shoot again!!!!!!!

Are you saying that some of the AI HK45s won't be made in Germany?

Both my 45 and 45c are AI dated and made in Germany.

No, those will be made in Germany but sooner or later all US market will be manufactured in the USA When Wilcox opens they will manufacture all civilian arms.Quality will not be the same. Just ask SIG!

Quality will not be the same. Just ask SIG!...or Beretta, or anyone else that has started US production. It's what happens when capitolistic U.S. businessmen start cutting production cost.

Gee, I guess someone should have told FN or Glock (Yes, Glock makes frames in the US) that the quality of their products would go right down the drain as soon as they started manufacturing them in the US.

I would wait and see how things pan out before you (everyone, not you in particular) start judging the quality of the end product. The US made HK's aren't even here yet and people are already making a stir. Wilcox and HK are both known for their strict QC. I'd wager they won't put out any sloppy products.

If the HK product coming from the US is of lesser quality, HK should be held responsible for letting QC slide. I don't understand the stigma with guns that originated in another country being made in the US. The company were ever its from should be to blame for loss in quality, not American workers.

I personally buy the made in germany products from a collectors stand point and I typically buy soon after a release.:)
