If I rubbed my gun and the finish wore off, it would be on a trip back to the company for repair. That is unacceptable. Do you have any pictures?

Sounds like a factory defect to me. Send it back!

+1 on wanting to see pictures.

Clean the slide with gun scrubber, just spray it lightly. When it is completely dry coat the slide with a VERY light coat of CLP. Wipe it down with a good cloth and see if it looks any better. If not, send it back to HK.

called HK can't refinish it in USA have to go to ? germany.
I am just going to live with it---sure is a bummer for an expensive gun.

Get it re-finished with roguard, I've heard that its a very good and durable finish, better than the HE finish. That is if you feeling like spending the money.

Mine isn't that bad but it sure does scratch and scuff easily. I've got a USPc 40 that I got a few months ago, don't have the date code in front of me. There is a good amount of wear on the top of the barrel from firing at the range. Was starting to think its normal wear but damn its hard to keep this thing looking good.

The finish wear on the hood of the barrel is completely normal, i dont care if the finish was made of unobtanium, it would still wear there and the locking block. I was under the assumption that we were talking about slide wear.

Yes hood wear is extremely normal.

Sorry I think I changed the topic from the original posters intention by bringing up the wear on the barrel. The slide does seem very easy to scratch though. I have a Blackhawk serpa cqc holster and it has wear marks on the slide from just a few hours in the holster. Maybe someone can recommend a better holster.

Hey, any kind of wear is normal. If not acceptable, don't shoot your gun. I personally was earlier very concerned about the wear, but then I realized, that's life. Look at the mirror, your face. Any wear since production?

Collector items live their life in the safe. It's a boring life for those firearms.

ps. I will never send my pistols to be re-finished. Why should I? For the looks? Take care of the barrel and trigger (system), with magazines. They count.

The OP stated a "slight rub" would take the finish off. I am assuming he meant the HE finish on the slide. If this is true then HK should fix it no if's and's or but's. After all, he said it was a new AH date coded USP.

However, I'm still interested in pictures because I have never heard of the finish on any handgun wearing so easily, especially an HK.

Pictures or it didn't happen...

Just kidding, but pics would help the folks here to help diagnose your problem, or at least tell you if the wear is normal. What is the round count?

I had a Kimber thus coated and it wore off extremely quickly... I don't ever recommend it.

What do you mean slight rub? Maybe HK finish got worse, but see if you can bring the dark color back by oiling the area. I can't imagine the color just faces. The HE finish is pretty tough, and shouldn't just rub off.

When there's a finish complain, I believe high quality, focused pictures are mandatory, otherwise it's just a speculation.

My Sig does the same thing with my Safariland. Just buff the marks out with a cloth and you'll be fine. There will be wear produced by any holster you use, so transitioning to another platform would be useless.

The HE finish is much like air in the way that they are both ...*Invisible*. To remove the HE finish you would have to be able to rub off some metal.
