I know I'm opening a can of worms with this post but what is a good .40 caliber carry round for a P2000 SK? I currently use Federal Premium Hydra-Shoks (because I got a fantastic deal on 10 boxes of 50) and they cycle just fine. I have looked at some of the Cor-Bon hollow points in the store and the projectiles look very fragile to me....as if they could deform and malfunction during cycling. Does anyone know if they offer the reliability that HK is know for? Also, how about the Pow-R-Balls, are they more reliable? In order of importantance, I want reliability, stopping power, but minimal over-penetration. Thank you for any advice you may provide.
Also, do they still make those Winchester Ranger SXT's or did they succumb to the Black Talon witch hunt? I haven't seen or heard about them for a few years.

If you like the Federal Hydra-shoks and they work, research and try using the successor, Federal Tactical HST, I use them in .45 and 9mm, they both showed incredible performance and results in my own testing.

I meant to mention earlier, I also have a USPc .40 that was part of the pilot offer. My father is an FFDO and they exclusively issue use Speer Gold Dot Duty Ammo 165g GDHP (for what it is worth). I have never used them but they have had excellent reliability results in their training, even when sand and rain were introduced into the mix.
I will try the newer Hydra-Shoks that you are speaking of. I very much appreciate the advice because testing with premium rounds gets quite expensive....especially when you experiment with different brands and types. It is a painfully expensive way to punch holes in a paper target.
Thanks again!

I've been using the Pow-R-Balls in the P2000 .40 cal. without any problems - also use them in my HK45 compact with no issues. But, each to their own.

Most premium ammunition will give you the peformance your looking for.
The important thing is they are hollow points to deliver maximum damage and reduce penetration.
All the ammo above is good stuff.
IRS agents use Speer Gold Dot
Border Patrol uses Winchester Ranger
Local PD uses Federal HST
The key word is Hollow point.

Federal HST or Winchester Rangers are about the best you can get.

I run 165gr Speer Gold Dot LE's through my P2KSK and my USPf with zero problems.

Another vote for Federal HST's. Currently carrying them in my P2000sk.

I'm going to throw a wrench in the mix and recommend Corbon DPX :p
