Typically I would wear an undershirt such as a tank top or t-shirt depending on what else I'm wearing between the P30 grip and the skin when carrying it. Someone said I should try a hogue and I know someone here has done that, but what I want to know is if the Hogue detracts from the normal ergonmics of the P30 grip.
Who has tried it?

I use a Hogue slip on grip on my HK45c and I have slipped it on the P30. I would say it does take away from the already outstanding P30 grip, but not dramatically. I would use it if I carried the P30.

Hmm...ok how does it fit? Is it easy to slide on? I'm guessing it's a tough chore cause the P30 grip is sort of fat..

Its not easy, you have to man up and wrestle it on. Its not a bad thing since it stays on real tight.

I got a really good tip on installing the hogue grips from the guy at lone wolf distributing:
Spray the inside of the slip on grip with hairspray before you slide it on. The wet hairspray will act as a lube, helping you get past the bottom of the grip. Once the hairspray dries, it acts like a mild glue, holding the grip in place so it doesn't shift during use.
I don't own a P30, but I use this on most of my guns. Buy a bicycle inner-tube, I don't know exactly what size the P30 would use, but look at Target or Walmart and buy a common size...it stretches. Cut a piece out of the tube and wash it in hot water with dishwashing detergent (this seems to cut the smell and helps clean it). Scrub the tube inside and out. After the tube dries, make sure that it is inside out and slide it on your gun. It will take some effort and some stretching, but once the tube is on there, it's a great grip. It doesn't abrade your skin, yet provides excellent grip that actually somehow gets better when your hands get wet. I highly recommend it!

Not exactly what you're asking but I think I'm going to buy a sheet of AGrip from Brooks Tactical and put it on the medium left side insert (I usually use all large and my wife uses all small) to see how that feels. If I don't like it I can peel it off. I don't want to take a chance messing up the grips we use but if I like it I may put it on the large grip insert. Just a thought...

Some people use this technique to put on motorcycle grips. However, be aware that hairspray can eat through and will weaken the rubber of the grip. Not sure what it will do to the plastic grip frame. It might not be a problem for a gun grip since it's not getting as much wear as a motorcycle grip, but moto grips have been known to tear through because of this.

I used to do that for BMX grips when I was into that. Then we discovered that if you shoot air into the grip from a pump as you twist & pull at it, it will slide on easily.
I decided to just use an undershirt. Seems like the easiest way to go.
