First off, thanks to everyone who assisted me in the purchase. A special thanks to Mark71, he gave me that nudge to make the purchase. I appreciate everyones advice. I purchased the gun out of Florida and shipped to Oklahoma. The dealer in Florida was very patient and professional. This is a NIB P7M8 AH date code. My understanding is the production run was after the run of marked 1 of 500.

I have not had an opportunity to shoot the gun yet. I should have time this weekend to put some rounds threw it. I had never seen a P7 of any kind in person till mine arrived, my first impressions were high. The gun was bigger and heavier then I expected, In a good way. The magazines are of remarkable quality and I now understand the cost of them. I have a feeling the trigger will be great. The craftsmanship is impressive, I stripped the gun, everything seemed straight forward and simple.

Here are the club entry pics, I assume my club plaque and hat will be in the mail shortly, I will try to take better pics when I have time.;)

Just had to sneak a picture of the P30L in there, huh?

Did the wood grips really change the feel of the gun? Were they expensive? Stunning. You're going to need another case, soon.

What's next on your list?

The P30L is not out yet.:p Yes they change the feel, they are a little bit fatter, when I shoot the gun I will try both grips and compare. Yes they are expensive. My next purchase depends on HK if they make a P30sk, it will be that, or the MR223 which ever is first. But I will be ordering that LWRC rifle in September, the one I posted pics of in the AR pic thread.

Sobriquet has a good point, you need a bigger case. Since that one is too small and you don't need it anymore, I will take good are of it!

Anyway, nice collection there. I like your newest member a lot.

The way I see it the next gun needs to be a SK, so I can have six in the case. After that we will talk.:)

Congrats

I took your advice and read threw the manual, and I have one question. Typically with my other guns I run them pretty wet when I know I am going to have a long range day. I find it helps for a easier cleaning. I do this despite what the manual says and I have not had any problems with any of the other guns.

Is it ok to do this with the P7M8?
Or just tell me what you do.:p

I CLP the slide rails fairly liberally, as well as the corresponding areas on the frame, including the take-down button's rail surface... A drop or two of CLP on the barrel's exterior, and you're good to go. As for the gas system - Just take a VERY lightly CLP-saturated patch and VERY lightly swipe the rings of the piston. Many actually run it w/ a 100% dry gas system, and I have had just fine results doing it that way as well, but it gives me some peace of mind to at least have some lube on a metal-on-metal, high-temp. friction area. Overlube this, and you'll likely know soon enough - when your slide won't manually cycle w/ ease b/c of caked-up crap in your gas cylinder after about 80-100 rounds. When I clean my P7's for subsequent CCW duty, I do not lube the gas piston at all - I only lightly lube it when I know it will be seeing several hundred rounds.

Regards,
-Bones

I did read about not oiling the gas system, so like you I wanted peace of mind so I used Stikehold CLP on the gas system, since its a dry lube I thought it would be ideal.

But as far as the slide, barrel, and rails go ahead and lube wet is fine?

HKCHEF:

Yea man, typical rail lubrication, maybe a dab on the extractor and a light coating under the grips and you are ready to rock. Mine isnt dripping by the time I am done, but I do get a little run off at the rails. I run the gas system dry. I had a bunch of P7 owners at the gun shop I worked at at the time really beat that into my head.

And like I said before, once you run a couple hundred rounds through it, the slide might start to feel a bit gritty when you rack it. Don't worry about it, its normal. If you want, you can take the scraper with you and give it a couple turns inside the gas chamber and that grit feel should be much less pronounced and will probably go away altogether.

When you take her out for the maiden voyage, remember your basics. Good grip, good support hand, posture, breath control, and slowly squeeze the trigger. I am sure you know all of this of course, but stick to it. I betya put one ragged hole in that target. :D

Who makes the highest quality holster for the P7M8, with a reasonable turn around time say 4 to 6 months.

Ive seen allot of different makes discussed, they only part that confuses me with all the options, is which ones are reasonable on wait time, they seem to change often.;)

I have a few from this outfit: www.mitchrosen.com. His P7 holster is quite nice(although I don't own one myself). I've ordered there a few times, and average turn around has been about 10 weeks.

Chef, I have a couple of extensive threads going about this over on The Cult. Are you looking for leather? Lou Alessi, Milt Sparks, Mitch Rosen, or Matt Del Fatti (you'd have to find one from a private seller).

Kydex? I'd go Raven Concealment. Do a search for it on Cult - their P7M8 holster looks very nice, too.

I'm trying to decide between these two right now... and not having much luck. Any advice would be appreciated.

Sparks:

Yeah, that's what I posted I wanted, too. You suck. lol

Actually, I changed my mind to wanting one of his IWB holsters that looks like a better design than anything else I've seen for the P7M8. It's frustrating to know exactly what you want to order and not being able to have it.

I want this. Exactly this:

http://www.delfatti.com/photos/photos/103.JPG

It looks like it'll balance the butt heavy design of the P7M8 well, it's gorgeous, and it has the attachment I want. Now all I need to do is find someone who will make one! I wish Mr. Del Fatti would expand production.

Sobriquet I apologize for this a little off subject, but where can I find one of those Alessi Holsters that you have for your Kahr. I've been looking and no luck so far. I am a Lefty though.

96GTS I've always thought that would be the perfect pistol for HK to market in America. What better than a safe "squeeze cocker" concealment pistol in 45ACP?

That was my thinking, too. I wanted to buy a P2000 in 9mm as my second HK, but after realizing it would still be there after the P7M8 was long gone, I decided to switch. It would have been nice if the P7M8 was the $750ish one. ;) I at least have the peace of mind knowing it'll hold its value well should I ever decide to get rid of it.

If HK re-intro'd the P7M7 with an aluminum alloy type frame, it would be a huuuge seller. But realistically, it will never happen :(

As for the color I got, it's several shades darker than this:
