I bought a pair of xs big dot night sights for my usp compact. everyone down here in s florida basically only knows how to work on glocks. The people that are willing to try it want to charge me $50 thats almost what I got the sights for. Anyone know of someone that can do night sight installation or maybe even a member that i can mail it to and have it sent back.

I had my Heinie sights installed on my P30 by Gun Tech. www.guntechinc.com/

It was $45 to install but you know what? You paid how much for that gun? It's not THAT much.

Nothing is free

You might want to PM RyanH&K21EOwner, I believe he is in your general area and can probably point you in the right direction.

I believe delray shooting center work on HK. i'm actually looking for a place that'll change my safety to right side (lefty here)

Just buy yourself a vise and some punches (preferably brass or nylon) and do it yourself. That's all most gun shops would do, since most don't have sight pushers for a USP.

I've installed all of my own sights with just my bare hands, a punch, a hammer, and a lot of experimenting to try to figure out how the hell to hold the slide still and hold the punch at the same time with the same hand. Big fun :)

Heck I used a small chunk of wood as a punch, didn't make a single mark. You will find it easier to do if you use a small hammer. A big one will work but is harder to control the force, too much is too easy although you will just have to knock it back if you go too far off center. But HK's can take the abuse.

Get it close and shoot it. If you need to move it more put a small piece of tape on the sight and the slide with an aligning mark on both so you can keep track of the small adjustments.

Take the $50.00 and buy more ammo!

There are a couple of other tools you might consider to help you do this:
A couple of decent files. Usually you have to fit the sights in the dovetail so get a couple different grits. One for cutting and one for polishing.

The other thing that is helpful are these laser boresight tools. I bought one that is like a pencil with different rubber bushings for different caliber barrels. You set the tool in the barrel and turn on the laser, then verify your alignment with your sights. You can snug left or right to tune the boresight, then verify the settings by slow fire from a supported bench at 25yds. Sometimes you may like to compensate your POA and POI for you but most of the time boresight is POI.

Good luck.

I use an allen wrench as a punch. It has worked for removal/instillation of my UMP/USC barrel, and changing the grips on my P2Ksk. Though I don't think I would use for site installation. I would suggest following MaverickH1's advice and get the brass punch set.
