Thinking of getting either the Michael Machines HK13 (.223) or the HK11 (.308) for a sear host. Would apprecaite anyone's experences with either one, on line or off line by PM or e-mail.

I had always though about getting a Bren or BAR FN-D to go with the BMG 1919A4 but the price for any LMG is such that probably will not be an option with out getting ride of too many other toys. Thus thinking the HK11 would be an interesting option and could be covered by moving a few other semi toys (possible poor timining on my part selling evil black or green rifles before the next election ;-). The first idea and fall back option is getting a 2nd HK91, as the current one shoots good enough that really hate to use it with the sear very hard (has a scope, MSG90A1 stock and PSG trigger pack). Have fired several friends HK21s and some of these have been fine and other coversions are marginal (feeding and recoil), besides I am thinking 20 or 30 rounds at a time is sufficent once I get through the last stack of 308 and have to purchase more at current prices.

Friend pointed out that with the Beta mag there are advantages to his MM HK13 and the ammo cost is slightly lower and of course recoil is less (his liking the MM HK13 is a big postive as he also has a SAW to shoot ;-).

As always thanks for ideas and comments.

If anyone posts a reply by pm please let me know also. I'm looking at the exact two weapons. Hey, great minds think alike.

Has no one bought one of these rifles?

One of my best friends has a MM13 and loves it! Since he now lives in Utah I can't just run around the corner and borrow his gun to play with.

We have been to the range together once since he got it but I didn't shoot it because the magwell had been damaged during the plane ride to SC. He managed to straighten it out enough to shoot that day but I was busy with other toys.

The gun runs fine and looks beautiful. IIRC Mike offers two barrels for these but I don't know which one my buddy has in his. The rifle is heavy and soaks up the recoil with barely any movement while firing. He is a C2 and the MM13 seems to have become a favorite of his hosting a post sample pack.

I would prefer the 13 over the 11 simply because beta mags are available in .223 today.

If I was going to get a box fed version of a belt fed rifle, I'd want a beta mag for it.

If I was going to get either MM 11 or 13 I would send in the sear pack you plan to use so that the host can be tuned to work with it.

I just tried my sear on a friend's MM11. It did not work in semi or auto using my trigger pack.
It would fire one round then have a light primer strike. I like the idea of the MM13 because of the ammo price and Beta drum.

Other options are to wait until next year for the MM HK23s (not on the list so will be a little bit I assume before everyone get's theirs) and start using the HK91 for a near-LMG.

I agree with the other comments. MM13 for the money is IMO the best deal. You get quick change barrels and the ability to use the beta mags, as well cheaper ammunition than the 11.

Holding out for a 23E myself...

I've got a M11/9 that I'm holding onto just because Richard lage is working on a .22 upper for it. I'm really wanting a reliable .22 sub gun.

If Lage's .22 comes through, I'll keep it. If not, it'll sell when the MM23E comes out.

Fleming already makes a .22 conversion for a M11/9 http://www.subcal.com/

True... But I said I wanted a reliable one. ;)

Waking up an old post on MM13 vs some version of the HK 11 ... due to possible having the option to pick up a MM13 if a 3rd friends Thompson sells (nice three or four way set of trades ;-).

Assuming one had the standard HK91 and HK93/HK33K/HK53 (or clone) would you go with the the MM13 or the MM11 and if the the MM11 what has been your experience?

Note for sake of discussion assume a 1919A4 also ;-).

I absolutely LOVE my MM13... I can't imagine an easier, nicer "light machinegun".

Flawless.

I have a 13 and love it with the beta mag. I put my inexpensive 308 costal can for the g3 on there and it very quiet until you hit the tannerrite. It work great with my S&H sear. The only thing I want for my sear is a retimed hammer to make all the hosts run smoother.

Yeah, I enjoyed watching the skinny kids being shoved around and back-pedaling by the 308 recoil. Reminds me of the old days... sigh.
