I saw a P7M8 this am at a local gun shop. It had no warning markings or markings from chantilly, sterling, arlington, etc. but it had a curious vertical milling on the slide (which was brownish in color). The guy there said it was an early german mode of marking demo guns. It did not say T&E. It was in outstanding shape and if it was a demo gun it had been fired very little. Has anyone ever seen anything like this? He offered it to me for $1145. Is that a good price?

I'm no expert by any means like many on this site are, but a vertical millings sounds like it was a police trade in at one time.

Total B.S.

It's a U.S. Police trade-in. Probably from the N.J. State Police. And yes, most that I've seen are in quite nice condition (although their slides are often VERY plum). They make excellent candidates for refinish/carry piece. Fair price would be no more than $1k (in my opinion).

It is a police trade in with the agency ID milled off and the slide refinished which then truns plum color. Fords is the only refinisher I know of that can remove the mill mark and put all the H&K markings back on.

Thanks for the input. Actually makes since ; another guy there corrected me when I commented on the slide being brownish as he called it "plum".
