View Full Version : P7M8s made after the "last 500"

Based on the serial number of of the "last 500" guns, I figure that #500 of #500 should be 16-134684. Now, I previously read here that 234 guns were made after the last 500. Based on the serial number of my own P7M8, the number must be higher than that.
Do we know how many P7M8s were made after the "last 500?" Do we actually know what the serial number of the VERY LAST P7M8 is and what happened to it?

Very interesting question and also worthy of a nice set of facts: "last serial number in a series". I suppose there will always be a battle of semantics with regard to HK offerings, though. There's a slight difference in the term "made" and "assembled". I think that is part of what causes a bit of confusion from time to time. The last of 500 series were the last ones that were intentionally made. However, enough parts were available to assemble more weapons and that was done after the last 500.
I have one of the last 500 series, an early one, and the plum beauty that I practically stole, recently, for less than $900. I'm pretty sure that serial number ranges can provide a good estimate and reasonable probability of dating along with the date code, but nailing down a specific date for a specific serial number may prove problematic, eh?

Where did that 234 figure originate from? We can definitely confirm that number is too conservative. Did HK never announce how many were made? I wonder if HKPRO might be able to find out.
Why the heck did HK stop making them, that's what I'd like to know.

Cost.
Man, as much as people are dropping for them right now you would think they would still produce them. Just be lucky you found an unfired one you lucky SOB!

I thought they had stopped making them last year, but then this AI M8 was just purchased in Canada.

+1 Not sure if anyone really knows for sure how many were made after the "last 500" especially with these AI coded guns.

The hell? That's the first I've heard of an AI coded gun. Has production stopped or not?

I'm hoping K comes to their senses and continues to do small runs for the P7M8, this way, when I actually have the money, I can grab like 6 of them!

Let me say this. I bought my first P7 in 92. Right after that everybody said HK had a new gun coming out and it was going to replace the P7 and they were going to stop making it. The USP came out and the P7 has been going out of business ever since (kind of like the store in "Don't mess with the Zohan.")

LOL, I love the analogy. I sure hope you are right.
