I finally got to handle an HK45C today and I have to say I was underwhelmed.
I had handled the new fullsize hk45 and like it's feel but today at the Tulsa Gun show I handled the HK45C and the Hk45 side by side and much prefer the grip on the full size. I had been awaiting the compact because I really like the looks and the slightly smaller peice for CCW and training classes.
I have small hands and would carry in condition one but the compact just didn't give me the feeling of control of the firearm that the full size does. The HK45 feels as if it were an extension on my hand. I guess I'll start watching for a deal on an HK45 Tactical and forget the Compact model.

I agree. I really wished they carried the "spiderman" grip over to the HK45c... :(

I'm sure they didn't to avoid the sandpaper texture rubbing your side. I'd imagine in summer months it would be positively torture.

Good point...I'm planning on getting an HK45C soon for concealed carry when I get my Firearms Licence in the mail. Sand paper against the skin or a thin undershirt would suck.

The HK45 Tactical is not out yet and no one knows when it will be released. So I would not hold my breath on waiting for one. I would like one myself.
However the HK USP Tactical is available.
After thinking about it a while. When would I ever use or need a supressor on a gun. I'm not spec-ops or James Bond. So I'm sure the legal impact of shooting a BG coming into your home with a tactical pistol with a supressor would be illegal? I guess owning a Hk tactical is all about the coolness factor at the shooting range?

The 45C feels better with one of the Hogue "slide on" grips added (IMHO). Be sure to get one of those a try before you give up on 'er.
But I hear ya... that spidey grip is the stuff!

The 45c with the hogue handall grip does feel better to me than the full size HK45 or the P30. I tend to carry it though with just the plain grip. While it's not as nice as the P30 or HK45 full size, it is a better fit for me than most any other handgun out there.

I use the hogue slip on grip on my HK45c as well, and enjoy it.

That's funny, because I wish they'd kept the prototype style grip for the HK45 (this is the grip that's on the HK45C). Not a big fan of the finger grooves.
I'm sure they didn't to avoid the sandpaper texture rubbing your side. I'd imagine in summer months it would be positively torture.
Crap I never thought about that, When I get my CCW I was planning on carrying the USPc with the sandpaper handle... hmmm
Anyone here have problems with that?
Guess I might just have to think about the HK45c because quite frankly, I saw one a few weeks ago and absolutely love the freakin' thing.

The HK45C also has an o-ring gasket on the barrell like the usp tactical and mk23 pistols do, which helps keep the barrel more in line for more accurate shots. Not a huge difference but its a plus comparing it to most USPs. The 45C also has a slimmer slide, which should help to conceal it better against your body.
I'm tempted to pick up an HK45C this weekend..the gun store I bought my hk45 has 22 left in stock.

I have to say I really enjoy my HK45C. It is a great shooting compact. I do like the HK45 more for the range but for carry it is hard to beat the HK45C.

I'll have to try one with the hogue thing on it. I did notice the lack of a palm swell when I switched back and forth between them. I'm not short of carry guns but I do like the new HK45s. The tactical model will make it easier to shoot suppresed in my backyard without pissing off my nieghbors who used to be city dwellers.

I traded my MP45 for one today and so far I like its feel better than my USP45C. I didn't know this at the time but my USP45C mag fits the HK45C, thats a big plus since I have more than a few of them.
I do have one question.... does it come with extra o-rings in the box? Mine doesn't have any!?

The HK45c does not come with any spare O-Rings . The USPc .45 and HK45c mags are the same and fit both guns perfectly. The only difference is that the HK45c mags have a rubberized baseplate that is less prone to cracking when dropped. Pick up one of the 10 round mags as they work great and balance out the gun nicely.

I may be one of the few people that would have liked to see HK go with the original HK45 design with the HK45c/P2000 grip.

I carry my USPc IWB all the time w/ no under shirt. Absolutely not an issue...

Thanks, I was worry I missed out on 0-rings... I do have some extra from my Tac, are they the same?

+1, I thought I was the only one. To those of you recommending the Hogue Handall, does this slip-on grip tend to slide around when shooting. I have never used one, but have been tempted to purchase.

Not on my USPf .45, but I have no experience w/ the HK45 or HK45c...

The Hougue grip stays on nice and tight and does not move around. The addition of the hogue grip makes the HK45c feel perfect IMO. They are sold for under $10 and are well worth the $ ;).

I don't have any of the new models yet but I swear by the Handalls on my USP's. I find the reg grip way too aggressive and the Hogue is perfect. I may pass on using these when I get my HK45 or P30 but the HK45C will get one for sure.

I have had better luck with the Uncle Mike's (Butler Creek) slip-on rubber grips than with either the Hogue or the Pachmayr. My experience has been that they (Uncle Mike's) tend to stay put, look good, and provide all the traction I need. The downside is that they are harder to find. Best bet is to order over the internet or Ebay.

If anyone is having a problem with the Handall moving around, a little trick I learned is to put some hairspray on the inside of it. The cheaper the better. The more expensive hairsprays arent sticky enough.
Spray some on your finger and rub it all over the inside of the slip-on, once it dries, it's not going anywhere.

So does that mean the USP 45 mags will fit the HK45?

No the fullsize USP mags will not fit in the HK45.

Just got my HK45C today with the "DE" Deutschland marking on the slide. Pretty sweet compact pistol..much better grip than I expected. Length is very similar to a Walther P99. Width is slim like a 1911.
I held a P2000SK today and my hand it too wide for the grip. Still pretty neat little pistol. P2000 however did fit my hand.

Congrats on the purchase. The 45c is a great size. The grip with flat base plates is like an officer sized 1911 only it holds 8 rounds and will feed them reliably. The grip width is slim like a 1911 and while the slide is a little thicker it's contoured so conceals easily.

I have small hands. The HK45c works much better for me than the USP does. I don't need to add anything that would add extra bulk to the grip. It works just the way it is very well.
