How are you handling that left side safet/decocker lever? And how do you carry? thanks.

I installed a ambi-decocker. Surprisingly It does not bother me. The left side bumps my hand so I dont de-cock when taking the gun off safe from cocked and locked. Hope this helps.

Thanks Mike. I hope we are getting close to the day when lefties have the option of ordering with just a right side safety/decocker. Otherwise I'll take an ambi like you. How hard was it to instal the ambi and what was the cost? 'Appreciate it.

from what i've heard, you shouldn't do it unless you have done such things before. it would be best to take it to a gunsmith to get it done
that being said, I really don't want ambi as I really like the de-cock feature and i don't want my fingers getting in the way. so i'll wait til I can find a left one.
perhaps trade with someone.

There is always a first time!!!!! I like the ambi for the reasons stated above and I am from the 1911 following. Cocked and Locked is how I like it. I followed the detailed instructions found on this site. I am no brain. Went slow and put things down in the order I took them out. I would say it was a 7 out of 10 on the technical side. The part with shipping was $65 ish. My opinion and mine alone. Hope this helps.

Glad you were able to do it. 7 out of 10 is way beyond my threshold for pain (or patience). To give you an idea of my technical prowess, my tool box at home consists of a butter knife and the Yellow Pages. If I can't fix it with the butter knife, I grab the Yellow Pages.

doesn't this void the warranty? (unless installed by authorized HK gunsmith or something)

I don't have an HK45 so bear with me....if you are LH what are the advantages/disadvantages of installing an ambi vs. a LH decocker/safery on the right side only? Thanks.

I'm interested in this as well because I'm a lefty too.

Can you order the part [right side safety/decocker] form HK?
I was told this week by my local gun store armorer that HK won't sell the part to me or him unless he's an HK armorer - he's not - and it must be done by HK, which means I need to send pistol to HK for this...
Did you buy some after market ambi safety/decocker from somewhere other than HK?

I need to apologize, I did the Ambi thing on my USPc NOT a HKc. I do not know if the parts are interchangeable. The part was ordered from an outside source online. It is an original HK part. Sorry I mis read the thread.
