View Full Version : How much interest in leather USP Tactical holsters?

Hi folks. I have been making an effort to expand the number of H&K pistols I support with my holster business, but I need a little guidance and I figured you guys are the ones to ask. I'm not trying to advertise anything here, I am just trying to gauge whether or not there is any interest in custom leather holsters for the USP45 Tactical and the USP45 Compact Tactical pistols before I sink a lot of time and money into holster designs and gun molds.

I sincerely appreciate any and all feed back (the good, the bad and the ugly), so please let me know what you think.

(Mods, if you feel this thread is inappropriate for this section, please move or delete it and instruct me on the proper way to handle this kind of request here. Thanks)

Do you make them for the HK45? I would be interested in that.

Yes, I do. The H&K pistols that I currently support are the HK45 and HK45C, the P7, P7M8, and P7M13, the P30, the P2000 (European and U.S. Versions) and P2000SK, the P9S and the USP and USP Compact in all available calibers.

I am interested in trying to expand my support for H&K pistols, but it is fairly difficult to get H&K dummy guns. I have the opportunity to get dummy guns for the Tacticals right now, but that won't last. I am trying to gauge the amount of interest in those pistols so I know whether or not to invest my time and money in them. Thanks for the feed back. I welcome all suggestions.

I would be very interested, but do you have pics of your other models?

I voted not interested, BUT I might be interested in one for the Compact Tactical if it accommodated the tall night sites and the rail adapter. Also accommodations for a tac light would be nice.

Sir,

It looks like real good quality work, I cannot help you out with the Tactical question, but would sure look into buying one for my USPc9!

Here are the only pics with H&K holsters I have right now, but this should give you some sort of an idea of what my other H&K holsters are like.

The bottom left holster is for a USP45 Compact.

Here is a Pancake style holster for a P7 (This one is made of BullHide so the molding isn't as clean)

This is an early prototype for the IWB design I have been researching for almost a year now.... (Almost there!)

I am really interested in your opinions about whether making holsters for the USP45 Tactical would be a worthwhile investment or not. Please post your opinions in the poll if you haven't taken the time already. Thanks for all the help!

sniper1, the sights wouldn't be a problem, and the rail adapter is a good possibility, depending on the type (GG&G definitely, CDNN probably, any others and I would have to see them first). As for the mounted Tac-Light holsters, I tried to do that in the beginning, but the costs of developing a usable dummy gun in order to make a safe and reliable holster were outrageous. Couple that with the number of lights out there and it was out of the questions, especially when Raven Concealment and Blade-Tech could make such holsters for a fraction of what I would have to sell them for just to break even. I still want to support them some day, but it will be a while before that happens.

I would like to have a nice OWB leather holster for my Tactical if the price wasn't to outrageous. :)

Fallguy,

Based on my research for USP Tac .45 holsters I came across at least 75 internet postings inquiring about such a holster, so I know the interest is there.

I for one would be very interested especially if you’re considering; 1) The classic belt slide pancake high riding FBI forward tilt design holster with forward and rear loops that tucks the holster snugly into the body for concealment and, 2) a leather reinforced throat band formed from the holster body itself, i.e., not just a swatch strip sewn on the outside mouth.

To help you decide, I’d be happy to committ and pay in full and advance for one USP Tac .45 leather holster. Good luck and keep us posted.

Well, they look like nice holsters and I really wanted leather but it appears you have a 4 month wait? As does everyone else with leather. :(

Yep. That's the draw back with custom holsters; I can't make them until somebody tells me what they want. Unfortunately, they can tell me a whole lot faster than I can make them....

If you could make one for a full size USP tac 45 and Surefire rail adapter that would rock.

I am intrested anyway!!!!!

A surefire rail doesn't look like it would pose a problem. I would have to borrow one before I began the holster, or take at least three orders for that combo before I could justify buying one myself.

It looks like there is enough interest to justify the purchase of a dummy gun for the .45 Tacticals. I will probably need some measurements from a few of you to make sure everything is in spec once I get the dummy guns. I'll post a new thread when I need the info.

Thanks very much to everyone who has taken the time to give their opinions and take the poll. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any other H&K holster suggestions.

Definitely the gg&g slimline is a must. Lights are easily removed, but the adapter not so much. I would definitely be interested in one for the CT.

airborne_trooper, I posted another thread asking for a few measurements. If you get the chance I would really appreciate the dimensions of the front sight and the barrel. BTW, lefty holsters are no problem; I'm a lefty too. :) Thanks.

sniper1, I don't mind at all making a holster with the GG&G, but I'll have to borrow it for a day or two when I am ready to case and bone the details in the holster, if you decide to place an order (unless I can get at least a couple of orders with this option, in which case I'll just buy an adapter myself for future use).

I'll let everyone know when I have the dummy guns ready to go. Thanks again.
