HI everyone - it's good to be here - thanks for validating my application to join.
I'm a new user to HK and a new handgun owner (although I've been shooting a friend's handgins and rifles and I previously shot rifles competitively in Air Cadets, many moons ago in the UK).
I have a brand new P 30L and I must say it is very very nice - fits my hand very well, but I have a question - has anyone else noticed that it tends to eject spent rounds backwards towards the user, rather than cleanly to the side?
Many thanks - looking forward to hearing from you.
thanks
Grant

Welcome to the HK forums. Congrats on your new P30L. I had one round today out of 100 bounce of my forehead. I have a P30.

My USP Compact use to do that to me.
Change your grip.
Congrats on the P30L.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new P30L!. Like Lou said change your grip to stop having the brass hit you in the head.

No I have not noticed that, congrats on the purchase.
Mine comes back by well to the side.

I am also a proud new owner of the P30L and yes I had the same experience as you with the brass ejecting towards by body.

I remember earlier accounts of this back when the p30 was fairly new. I believe the issue was with the softer rounds being used and running a little hotter ammo to break the gun in resolved the issue. The p30/L are designed to run 9mm NATO which is hotter than our 115gr 9mm round.

ok - several things:
the grip thing solved the casings coming back towards me. Thanks for that, guys.
Federal American Eagle ammo doesn't shoot for crap from this gun (round or flat nose, 115 or 147 grain). If I had to choose I'd choose Winchester or MagTech 115 round nose. Still have Remington to try.
The sig229 is pretty good - seriously good. It is heavier, feels more solid and robust. The grip is wider. The mag eject is better. The slide is noticibly more difficult to retract and the release is very stiff. All round I'd say I like the way it's built.
best to y'all
G
Huh. I shoot 147gr American Eagle from my P30 and can cover all shots with my palm at 15 yds, rapid fire.

Congrats and Welcome.
Ok now for my question, cuz I'm confused. My P2000SK does the forehead thing as well. But change the grip? What do you mean? Can someone elaborate?
Thanks in advance!
