... .357 Sig barrel for the gun as well?
I know you can just swap out the .40S&W barrel and pop in the .357 Sig barrel...but why?
I was looking at some basic ballistics and the rounds seem comparable. Also, the cost seems comparable.
But, am I missing something?

I havent fired the sig yet, but it is supposed to be a very flat shooting round with better then average penetration. and as for getting the second barrel... I like to think of it as getting a second gun for only ~$200 cant beat that.

IMO it is a question of why not to get the .357 barrel? Me, I can't think of any reason not to have it unless it just doesn't interest you. I know if I ever actually find one I will buy it.

Not if I find it first! Starting to wonder if they even making them anymore, nobody has one, not even available for backorder at the sites I've checked. .357 is definitely my preference over .40 but I had no idea it would be such a tough thing to find when I bought this SK40.

the 357 sig round has about a 100 more foot pounds of force than the 40 cal so it gives it a bit more penetration. the bullet is smaller and lighter than the 40 cal so there is slightly less recoil when fired. the 357 sig round is basically like having a 357 magnum in an automatic - which is what it was designed for.
i carry 357sig rounds in my duty weapon and love the round. i know if i have to shoot through something like a wall or windshield the bullet will have the power to penetrate and its smaller than a 40 cal so less chance of it hitting obstructions in the wall like pipes and wires and whatever. however with the 40 cal you are making a bigger hole in someone which means more blood coming out.
a new barrel is basically like getting a new gun for cheap.

I could be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that HK discontinued the P2000 in the Sig round. If that is the case, then what is on the market now is it, but I do believe they made quite a few.

The 357 is very flat shooting round plus it is a lot of fun to shoot. You can get a P2000SK with both 40 and 357 barrels from CDNN for $689, hard to beat in my opinion.

But, am I missing something? You're missing the 'FUN' factor. The .357 SIG is just plain fun to shoot. They're LOUD and have a WAY cool muzzle flash. Watered-filled gallon milk jugs are explosive when hit by one.

It's a neat, poppy little round. I like it.
The .357 sig was in use by some transit authority or another as it will penetrate bus seats.

I didn't think I would enjoy shooting a .357 sig, until I got my P2000sk. I have both .357 and 40, and I've decided to use the .357 for carry, since the recoil is very managable. You won't regret it.

You guys are killing my bank account....
After reading all the posts about how great the 357sig is and that HK isn't making any more 357sig's I found a USPC 357Sig NIB on Gunbroker.
It was in CT so I called yesterday and bought it. Going to pick it up Thursday after work.
