Hi all,

I was on AuctionArms, and saw this USP for sale. It has a "factory" compensator. Can anyone tell me (from the pics) what the silver rod thing is and how it works with the handgun? Do any of you have one of these, or can anyone give any info about USPs released with this factory compensator? I've never seen one before, and you can easily see it's NOT the USP MATCH compensator.

Yeah, so, any info would be great. Thanks in advance!

It's an alignment tool for lining up the compensator with the bore. Attach comp leaving bolts loose. Insert tool. Tighten bolts.

Just do not buy it and expect it to do anything. HK quit making them for a reason and the reason was they did not do the job they were intended to do. The match weight (not compensator) does a lot more to reduce muzzle jump than the Compensator ever did and to that end they are a waste of money. But, if you want a collection piece of HK memorabilia, then get it by all means.

By the way, the match weights are nothing but weights, they serve no compensating action other than having 3/4 pound hung off the end of the frame.

Hey I think Laura Croft wants her new gun back...

Ha, just kidding. I got pretty much the same set up.

Yeah compensators... I shoot a glock 35 compensated... what a difference. Now we do load our ammo and we started to notice the compensator really helped with hotter loads. I keep wondering if an extended (jarvis) barrel with compensated cut outs would help the usp or not.

Thanks for the info regarding the "compensator".

It may be kind of snobby, but I only buy USP variants and P9S's in .45, at least for the time being. I want one of each all in .45 before I start mixing calibers...

The problem with 45's and compensators is that the 45 is a realitively low pressure round. The 40 has so much more pressure that actually helps produce enough gas pressure to make the comp work.
