i really had no intention of ever buying an hk45...i mean, its just a worked over USP (of which i already own a half dozen), right?

...then i made the mistake of asking to hold one at the new sportsmans warehouse that just opened up in billings. although i wanted a p30 i have for the most part stopped buying service size weapons since they are so dang difficult to conceal. but it was sitting there on the shelf....just looking at me.

...so i asked to hold it and as soon as it hit my hand i knew i was done for. i left it using the justification that since i was on my harley i didnt have a way to get it home (no saddle bags yet). i had hoped this was just an impulse but i couldnt get the way it felt in my hand out of my mind. i went back today (on the harley again, for "safety") just to "look at it" and see if i really wanted to waste $1000 on a gun to big to carry.

well...the second it hit my hand once again i told him to get the box and start the paperwork. i reasoned with myself that winter is here so concealing it wont be as hard. i have to get it converted over to variant 3 (decock only, no safety), but thats simple enough.

now for the meat of it. although the hk p7 is my "magic gun", i have never held a weapon that felt any better in my hand including (and please forgive me for saying this) the 1911 or BHP. there, i said it and ill have to live with it. the silly looking spider-man grips shown in the picture just melt into my hand for a perfect fit. if this weapon shoots as good as it feels in my hand then it will be worth every penny. expect a range report very soon.

Congrats and do give us a shooting report. How is the trigger compared to your USPs? I'm in the same shoes as you. I keep telling myself I don't need a full sized .45, but the HK45 feels soooo good in the hand.

I'm guessing you can CCW the HK45 in Montana in the winter.

Congrats on the purchase and looking forward to reading a range report (how about another sweet video like you did with your P7).

Same feeling I get. I held one for the first time 2 weekends ago. I have spent 10 days on a mission looking for a threaded one. When I find it, it will probably be bought on scene.

The HK45 does not come from the factory with the threaded barrel (no word on if/when factory HK45 Tacticals will be available). You can purchase a threaded barrel separately from HK.

Thank you sir!

One of the dealers told me H&K didn't sell it threaded, but I figured he was just trying to sell me the one he had. We have the "Suppressor Shoot" this upcoming weekend. Hopefully someone will have one of these suppressed there.

I'm really interested in the HK45 tactical. Hopefully we get an ETA soon!

Granny likes her HK45 very much. It doesn't shake her dentures out like her 44 mag. does.

I think you'd be surprised how well that HK45 could carry with a good holster.

Enjoy the piece.

If they do come out with the HK45 "Tactical", aside from the threaded barrel and adj. sight will there be other features different from the regular?

I noticed that the Hk45 is not much larger than a commander sized 1911. The difference is that the HK45 is a bit taller from grip end to top of slide, longer by a slight bit (.1"), and wider in the grip area. If you have a holster that rides close enough, it will conceal as well as a 1911 will I'd guess. Again the grip is longer and wider. The gun is lighter than a 1911 by a few oz though.

I put them side by side today and was surprised.

Same thing happened to me, as soon as I picked it up I had to have it, now you need to try the HK45C.
