Howdy folks!
This is my first post on this forum.
Last Saturday afternoon I bought a new USP 45 Fullsize (AH date code) that came with tritium night sights and three 12-round magazines.

I immediately cleaned it and took the pistol to my local range for a workout. It's a sweet shooter with no malfunctions of any kind for the 170 shots of WWB I fired.

My question is: Have there been any reports of problems with the internal lock located in the mag well inside the grip?

I ask because I have a couple of S&W revolvers that I took the internal locks out of because I read that the locks might sometimes engage by themselves when you don't want them to, possibly as a result of rough handling, or recoil.
:8:

I suspect that the internal lock in the H&K won't engage by itself but I just want to check with the experience of other H&K USP owners. Thanks.

Only problem reported here was it being locked and someone racking the slide before reading the instructions and unlocking it first. Does the magazine easily drop out with the hammer and/or slide back?

And welcome!

I've never heard of the lock causing any trouble other than bent hammer strut from people not reading the manual as mentioned above. If your mags drop out with the slide locked back your strut has not been bent. Most decent shops know about the lock and turn it off before trying to check it to be clear and smartly leave it off.
Turn it off, leave it off, and forgetaboutit.

The magazine drops free. The pistol is not damaged. I bought it at a gunstore that sells lots of Heckler & Koch handguns.

I think I'll take Big Bore's advice and "Turn it off, leave it off, and forgetaboutit."

Thanks
