Can someone tell me, if you had to choose between a P2000 or a USP compact, which would you choose and why? I am looking to get an off-duty gun that matches my current duty gun (p2000 lem in .40) and wondering if I should go for the USP.

No point in getting either of them if your duty gun is the p2k. Get a flat magazine base plate and carry that off duty.

Otherwise, go smaller, and get the p2ksk in LEM.

Why should he get a flat magazine baseplate for off duty carry? I carry with the molded baseplate and love it. It's mainly a big addition to the grip of the gun, in terms of comfort. Is the gun really that much easier to conceal without it? I imagine some of it's size would be lost when you took out the grip, but a significant amount? I just have the molded grips, so I really have nothing to compare to.

The two most important dimensions, for concealability are grip length and overall thickness. Anything that shortens that grip will lower the amount of printing.
