I have a nice refinished P7 (PSP) that my friend really liked. He borrowed it and chipped my Nill grips cleaning it. Needless to say, this pissed me off. Soon after he bought his own surplus P7. Tonight he called me on the phone to say he somehow broke one of his plastic grips removing it. He's two for two on breaking P7 grips.
Now my question: he obviously needs a new grip panel. I found some P7M8 panels on MidwayUSA and I get my C&R discount on them. Can we order him a M8 grip to replace his broken PSP grip? Or does anyone know of a place to get a replacement grip panel?

The grip panels are different on the P7 versus the P7-M8.
The P7's back strap and lower rear section of the grip panel are abbreviated on the P7 compared to the M8.
Sorry...
If you do a search, however, I remember a thread about a guy selling nice wood P7 grip panels for $80, if my memory is correct.

I've seen some of those grips before, the look nice. I considered them to replace my Nills but I'm just ordering new Nills.
My friend on the other hand is a professional klutz. I have a feeling if he gets wood grips he's just going to break them. When I found those M8 panels on Midway I thought it would be a good deal as the panel was only like $15.
I guess there is no such animal as "factory replacement PSP grip panels" on the market?

Try Numrich Gun Parts.

Already tried Numrich. They have mags and triggers only... or at least that was all that came up under HK->P7. I also tried Brownells with no dice. Does HK have any official replacement parts service?

Numrich is a tricky place to find anything. Here you go:

There are two different grip panels for the PSP depending on the type of heel mag release, because there are two different models of heel release. Be sure you are looking at the right style.

How do you tell which is which? Also, just to be doubly sure, how do you know which panel is which? The one my friend broke is the one with the HK P7 marking on it, what I'd call the left grip.

I've never tried it on my M8 and P7 (PSP), but I have seen a pic over on PCT of a guy who put factory M8 grip panels on one of the flush heel release P7's, and they fit perfectly (aside from having that little empty notch where the mag release of the M8 protrudes; But it was not really noticeable). Now, trying to fit PSP grips on an M8 would be a definite no-go (no mag release cutout).
I have the item numbers written somewhere, for the flush-mount PSP grips (the flat ones that came on commercial models, not the palm-swell grips found on the Saxony trade-ins; I don't know where those are available).
I will try to find that information for you (I recall being confused b/c Numrich's item descriptions did not match for the left and right panels; One said something like "Grip panel, Left" while the other said something like "Grip Panel, Plastic, Black").

I found it:
"FYI, the following items from Numrich are the flat, non-swelled P7 grips, as found on the later Arlington's etc.
I have a trade-in that came w/ the palm-swell grips, and wanted the flat ones to better resemble the grip of my M8, to which I am better accustomed.
Thought some fellow Cultists would like the info:
"605250 - Grip Panel, Right $20.45"
"605230 - Grip Panel, Left - New, Stippled Black Plastic $14.95"
No idea why the descriptions are so different for R vs. L grips for the same model (flush-mount, non-retrofit release); That site (Numrich) can be wacky."
Again, the above info is for the flulsh-mount heel release P7; If you have a protruding heel release, then you want to order the other set of P7 grips that they offer...
Hope this helps,
-Bones

Sorry, I had that backwards in an earlier post (Although I don't know why or how the grips in this photo have cutouts for the M8 mag release; They look like grips off a Saxony trade-in P7, and mine don't have that cutout... weird)

Thanks for all the help, guys.
Kind of an offshoot question but has anyone here broken their P7 grips removing them from their pistols? My friend who broke his is kind of a special case as he has partial paralysis in one hand which means whenever he has to do fine motor skill work with both his hands he sometimes accidentally applies way too much force to things because he can't hold his tools right. He can shoot a pistol OK, but he has trouble taking them down to clean them. I told him he didn't need to remove the grips but he's just like that. He's also supposedly really marred his grip screws (once again too much pressure on them and I think he gouged the slots). Does anyone know if those aftermarket hex key grip screws deform as easily as the standard ones?

I found my Numrich reciept from 2006 the parts numbers;
"605250 - Grip Panel, Right $20.45"
"605230 - Grip Panel, Left - New, Stippled Black Plastic $14.95"
are the same parts Numrich sent me and I can confirm they fit the flush mount release on my KF, 1995 P7.
Screws I got were 600840C, 2 @ $6.30 each (in 2006).
