Hi Everyone,
New to the forum and new to guns! Made my first purchase a couple of months back which was the HK USP 9mm (after having played with a Glock, Browning and CZ - the HK felt the best, though it came with the highest price tag as well :( ).

In any case, I want to start cusomising my USP and I'll be getting the compensator for the gun. Thanks to Mark71; saw a reply of his to someone else saying I could get the compensator at www.robertrtg.com

Next thing I want is the stainless steel slide which I cannot manage to find anywhere; anyone know where I can get one online?

Then of course, there is the trigger kits. Im still undecided on whether to get the Match trigger kit or the LEM trigger kit. After some research I read the Match trigger kit and LEM trigger kit both reduce the pull weight required on the trigger for the gun to go off. From what I understood the Match trigger kit reduces the weight more than the LEM trigger; but the LEM trigger does more than just reduce weight but Im not quite clued up on what it does exactly. Can someone explain in laymans terms what it is, what it does and why someone would want it?

Lastly (and least important of all), I want to play with the look of the gun and maybe get some custom grips. I can only find places that do this for the 1911 and even so - everyone seems to be extremely backed up with work, etc. Anyone have any suggestions here ?

Thanks in advance!

Anyone have any suggestions here ?since youre new to all this, the best advice i could give you would be to slow down a little. spend some time getting to really know your weapon before changing so much. grow with your weapon gradually, and she will let you know what she needs next.

Thanks, and trust me - I have every intention of doing so - but I like to heavily research something before I actually do it. (For example, I did research on upgrades to my car for 1-2 years before actually going ahead and doing everything :P)

Though I've been shooting it regularly since its purchase a couple of months back - there will still be many more months before I actually start doing upgrades. I just want to know what my options are and how to do whichever options correctly :)

For example, with the compensator - apparently I need to get a longer barrel as well? Where would I get this and is there a specific part number or such I should be looking out for?

TIA

Thanks in advance!I doubt if you'll find just a stainless slide for sale. You could have yours plated. Go with the match trigger. The LEM is sort of a double action only. The weights you read about for the LEM also include the long trigger pull.

Check out Gray Guns for custom trigger work. I hear they are better than the match trigger from HK. www.grayguns.com/docs/smith.htm Of course it is more expensive but worth it from what I've read on HKPro. I'm thinking about saving up more now to send my USP 9 to Gray Guns.

As for the SS slide check this guy out. www.hardcorpsweaponry.com this guy does Duracoating and from what others have said his work is top notch.

Thanks guys :)
Im in South Africa though, so wont be able to get it coated where you guys suggested. Is my standard black slide stainless steel that has just been painted? If so, couldnt I attempt to remove the paint from the slide then to get it to its silver colour?

Also, do I need to get a new barrel if I get the USP compensator/barrel weight; and if so - where do I get one?

Would you be able to only send the slide to get work done on it instead of the entire pistol to the U.S. since it wouldn't be a "complete" firearm? Don't know what kind of import/export laws you have, or we have for that matter! lol. IMO, I wouldn't strip off the H.E. coating unless it was done by someone that was going to finish it in another way that same day as it would start to rust, plus there are some other things that go along with it that I don't know about.
