I notice that most people here seem to be using compacts for CCW wapons or duty carry. Does anyone use their HKs for contest shooting?

There is one type of competition i prefer, and i dont think there is a good translation for it, directly translated its fieldshooting, but the setup is as follows:

10 stands with 6 shots each (60 total)
Ranges are from 7 to 70 yards
Targets are geometric shapes like bunkerstripes, circles or you can be crative.
You must have one stand with best hand only, the rest can be with both hands.
It is common to have one stand where you have to be prone, lying down.
Time varies from stand to stand, 6 to 14 seconds.
Nuber of targets pr. stand is maximum 6. You loose 2 points per target you miss (so if you have 5 targets one heit per target but one bullet missed, you loose one point. If you lose a whole target , say 6 hits in 4 targets you loose two points.)
It is also common to have a moving target (pendulum or running down a wire)

You can not have compensators, muzzle brakes, optical sights(red dot/laser) or silencers.

Perfect dicipline for hk's i think. At least its good fun, and a national program where i am from :)

I mainly use it for CCW/home defense but recently went to a local IDPA match with my USP 9. This weekend I also plan to use my FNP40 at IDPA as well as my USP 9 being the primary firearm. I believe I was the lone HK user when I went to my first IDPA match. My USP 9 ran like a champ of course :D .

I own my HK45 because it is simply the best .45acp pistol on the market.

Having said that, I bought it to go with my P30. Later I sold the P30 due to various reasons, but I will not sell my HK45...ever. It has become my winter carry gun and my HD gun. I was going to carry my bobtail 1911, but I think i'll move that to my range toy.

Obviously the 1911 outshoots the HK, but the HK is one of those guns that feels too good to let go of.

My P30 will be my IDPA battle weapon of choice! Just as soon as I get the rest of the LEM parts in.

My full-time department mandates that I carry their gun on-duty (currently a Beretta 96, of which I am not a fan; probably going to change to the Glock 22 early next year, better, but still not an HK). I'm qualified with my P7 and Glock 36 as off-duty weapons there, and my Airweight J-frame as a BUG/off-duty.

My part-time department lets me carry my own, right now my duty weapons are my P2000 LEM and S&W M&P45, plus the same J-frame BUG as above. I usually carry off-duty on my full-time badge, but when I carry off-duty on the part-time shield, its usually the P2000. Of course the P2000 is on the sidelines right now due to a broken spring. Hopefully that will change soon. I'm buying a house right now, but if I ever have money again, I'll consider a HK45 LEM as a replacement for the M&P45. Then again, the M&P has been perfect, so I may just not mess with a good thing.

For IDPA I shoot mostly the M&P45, a Beretta M9A1, and a S&W 681. I have been known to shoot the P2000 also and will again once it is fixed.

I bought my P2000sk primarily for protection. However, since it is my carry piece I also use it in competition to get more trigger time with it. It works great for both.

A couple of my handguns are for concealed carry/home defense. The others are for "just because I could" and also because they are not as common as some other H&K's.
