I got a P9S 45 that does not have 45acp stamped anywhere and the barrel is not bright stainless like my 9mm. The serial number is on the barrel but is apperas to be stamped not screened like my 9mm. It is a Chantilly 406 series. Could this be an original barrel for this gun? Thanks for any info. Mel

My P9S's .45 ACP HK marking on the barrel is now so light that I can barely make it out. A casual glance and it doesn't even appear to be there. If I didn't know that was suppose to be there and where to look, I could easy think that it isn't even there. The serial number is very legible, in fact running my finger over it I can feel it ever so slightly.

Is your barrel shinny or a dull finish to it? Thanks mel

I would call it semi-shinny.

Have never heard of or seen aftermarket barrels for the P9S series. Tried to have one made once, but the smith could not get the pressed barrel out of the housing. Not saying it could never be done, but it sure would be a challenge. Rest assured, it is HIGHLY likely yours is an original barrel.

No aftermarket bbls were made for the P9 series. Sounds like yours is a replacement bbl, as the original would have a bright finish, machine etched SN, and proof mark.

Been reading this thread and wonder how many were made.
The serial number on my P9s 45acp is 400 00x. If any one has any info to share I would be really interested.
Also, looking for the longer barrel, adj sights and wood Nil grips for the 45.... which brings me to another question...are the tactical sights on the 45 staked or can they be replaced with the adj. ones?
Thanks in advance for any info anyone has.

the 45's started with 400-001, made about 8000 of them(in 45)

dont think you can change the fixed sights to adjustable on the P9s

Nill grips can be had from Nill in Germany or Mactec in the US

the 8" Hunter barrel is pretty seldom seen, $400-800! (I have one, honestly its cool but really no other point, unless you want to cut and thread it for a can)

the weight with some effort will fit the hunter barrel, but again....I found no point, I made up a 9mm SG instead out of a 9mm target

Thankyou for the insight.....I am slowly getting a better picture of one of my favorite HKs....I love the pictures you included ,...WOW!
I am so glad to have joined this forum, finding answers and meeting fellow HK enthusiasts is great...my P9s 9mm Target with adj. sights and barrel weight doesn't have the word "Sport" on the side....I purchased it from the same dealer that originally sold it back in the late 70s whom sold it to me last week.... An he doesnt have any explaination.
Any one have Any Ideas why......?

I have(am sure) seen the weights without Sport marked on it before, also if a true SG the P9s will not have a front sight on the slide, only on the weight

look for a P9s Target, might be the hardest(beside the SG) to find.

I have a bastard P9s, the slide is a combat but the frame(replaced by HK) is a target(so it has the adjustable trigger) its the best shooting of all mine
