I went into my local dealer today and asked if they could special order a Mk 23 for me and what the cost would be.
He called their distributor and HK and confirmed that the Mk 23 is now discontinued for civilian sales.

Hulk2K8: I've got one for sale if you're interested. AI code, LNIB, less than 100 rounds. Bought 6 months ago. Hard shell HK box with all the goodies. PM if interested. Thanks!

If you really want an MK23 just call CDNN, they had a bunch last time I talked to them (recently).

I saw your posting. I don't have any of those guns to trade with you though.
I saw a new one the other day for $1899, but I don't remember the date code. And it might have been a display gun.

Limited production, yes. Stopped production, no...
I recall a dealer telling me years ago, that each year HK makes a batch of each model (the MK23 is what I inquired about), then starts over again the next year... so this year, they could be discontinued (i.e. out of stock at the factory), but next year they could be back...
I also heard recently the USP9SD is discontinued. This makes sense since the new models are out...

Different day, same old crap.
Do a search on your topic and you will see twice a year, every year since the Mark 23 came out this is the same old rumor dealers spread when they run out of Mark 23 stock to dupe the unknowing to buy something they DO have in stock. Or go to HK-USA forum and read it for yourself that the Mark 23 is NOT DCed, only limited production JUST AS IT HAS BEEN since DAY 1.
hhhmmmm, I know it's a marketing gimmick but mine might need a freind anyway.
If production has ceased, it's about freakin' time!!! :D
Anyone remember 1996--- 1,500--- limited civilian availability?

Not cool man....not cool.....all right, I'm grudgingly happy for you. Someday....I will own one....sigh....someday.......
I've kind of noticed on this site (Been lurking for a few years....just couldn't take it anymore) that the same conversations keep happening.....Mark 23, usc carbine, are going to be discontinued....then what the heck, my store has two for sale. Or there's the good old "hey, I heard the 416/417 will be in stores by oct of XX". HK is a very stable, very careful company. They are aware of political climate, economics, and public mood...so I doubt they are going to make a lot of dramatic changes when they are doing well already. It does suck for the HK faithful that can't wait for the "insert gun here".
Not trying to crush the kool-aid drinkers, because I have the red mustache myself....just being realistic.:2300000:

Hulk, here's a link to an online store with MK23's NIB for $1999 delivered with the 12rnd magazine. I looked a while before I bought mine and think its a fair price.

Let me know how it turns out. Once you have your hands on it you will understand why everyone loves it! (my own opinion I guess)

I've bought from buds myself and can give them a big ++++++++ for customer service and quick communication. I just bought a USC, so I'm going to have to wait a few weeks before I jump on a 23.

well, they did discontinue the USC, then brought it back in black... and the SL8.

Now that the ban is over, why don't they just bring over REAL UMPs/G36s instead of those? If there is an importation restriction on them I don't see why they can't perform the final assembly in Columbus, GA or Sterling, VA to get around it. I've wanted both for a while but couldn't justify both having to pay for the gun initially (which isn't cheap) and then dumping all of the cash on a conversion.

The import restriction does ban a semi auto version of the UMP and G36 and the 1986 machine gun ban prohibits civilian ownership of any MG made after May 19, 1986. So civies are SOL on FA versions of the UMP and G36.

I think he meant to say why don't they import the SA version of those models. I agree why does HK not work within the law and supply the civilians with quality "Black Guns"?

Yes, this is what I meant as I am well aware of MG ban of '86.

The USC and SL8 are now black...
This sounds like a great reason to buy something you have always wanted anyway
