At the range, my P7 failed to completely eject and would not rack. After I took it apart and cleaned the gun, I tried to rack the slide, but it would not move past the first 3/4 inch.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Did you scrape and brush the gas tube and wipe the piston? It gets harder to rack the slide with carbon in the gas tube.

With a light, I see that it is clean and no obvious obstruction exists. But I am only using a steel brush and cleaning patches to clean that area as I don't have the service tool.

Take the spring out and reassemble. Does it still hang up?
I bet Sobriquet is on the right track with this one - you've got carbon buildup in the piston.
My guess is that if a brush would work, they wouldn't have taken the expense to provide the scrapers.
And heed the warnings in the manual - don't use drill bits or reamers to clean the tube. And don't use a wire brush of any kind or steel wool to clean the piston.

I really need to get a scraper

Yeah, I guess I will take the expert advice and purchase the tool first before working on this any further. I knew this issue existed, but I didn't know it could be so sensitive.
Thank you for the reply. I couldn't go to sleep knowing that this problem existed, but now I can at least go to bed knowing what to do next.

I've noticed that the grip panels sometimes get in the way if not reinstalled correctly (easy to do it wrong). Do you have the same problem with the grips removed?

Yeah, I double checked the grip panel issue as I took it off this time for cleaning.
But I carefully stripped off some debris in the gas cylinder area and there is some hesitation on sliding, but it does slide back.
I didn't think it was this sensitive in that area. Definitely will be needing the P7 cleaning tool rather than using other cleaning tools for this area.
Thank you everyone.

Worst case scenario your gas chamber maybe out of round causing the gas piston to hang up inside it.

All that was in my P7 box was a .270 wire bore brush and I guess I didn't realize that the scraper was different than a brush. Does anyone know where to buy a scraper?

Midway USA has them from time to time, or check parkcitiestactical.com.
Google for it, somone will have them.

That is what happened to one of my M8's. HK took care of it at no charge. The action is slick now.

I got one in three days from Adam at HKParts.
If yours came in the black plastic box. Check carefully. You may find it on the far right standing on edge.

BTW - how much have you shot it? Depending on whether you are reading the operator's manual or the armorer's manual, one says to clean the tube every 500 rounds or once a year, the other says every 1000 rounds or once a year.

I have only shot 278 rounds out of my P7 since purchase and I checked the gas cylinder area when I picked it up and it was spotless and shiny. I have shot some dirty ammo, so this could be the reason why it got dirty quick.
But this gun is hard to shoot often as it gets very hot.
